  1. I got 20% all around with an eyebrow (below the AS-1 line) and I absolutely love it! The cops are really strict with the tint laws around here, but I mostly drive with my windows down. If its cloudy outside and the traffic police are stopping cars, I normally crack the windows a bit and turn on the dome lights. 20% is just right for me. I paid $180
  2. I use it almost everyday now...I have class and work, and my mother needs her vehicle now that school is starting back up. I got the parts, its going to the shop tomorrow!! Can't wait!! They are OEM Motorcraft from teamfordparts.com
  3. Paid for the car in full last year, a 2006 v6 with 27k miles for $8000 flat
  4. Liability coverage, with no uninsured + hit and run coverage...never saw it coming... Plus I'm a broke college student under 25, so I didn't want to get murdered with car insurance payments- Yea, the side mirror still works! Pieces of shattered mirror were all over the place, and I have to use the little 3x4 piece to see...the mirror motor still works, it just that the housing behind it wouldn't let the motor adjust it or whatnot.
  5. Hit and run driver. My car was parked at home, and I went in the other vehicle...came back home to find the side of my car totally f*cked up! Needless to say, insurance won't cover it, and I have to pull the money out my ass somehow to fix it back up. So the two side windows won't go down, and my A/C doesn't work because of the bad ignition coils. I'm dripping wet with sweat every time I use my car... When it rains it pours, right?
  6. Gotcha. I'll go ahead and get 2 of them and then tow the car to my mechanic to see what he can do. Do you know if its only 2 I have to buy, or is it a whole set?
  7. Ok. I pulled the fault codes and they read as Ignition Coil 1 and 2 malfunction. Where can I buy these parts? Aside from the dealership?
  8. The airbag light that sometimes comes on is usually the first thing to tell when a battery is going bad. I had my car 17 months and been through 2 batteries, one just yesterday. I started it up and noticed the airbag light. When I tried to start it to go to work the next morning, it wouldn't even crank - the battery was defective.
  9. Doubt I did much damage to the converter - my drive home was under 2 miles away / about 7 or 8 minutes. I started the car yesterday, it idles at about 750RPM in park. Put it in drive and it goes lower to about 675RPM? I drove it around a bit, enough to get the engine warmed up. The engine light no longer blinks, although its lit steady (I think it would be until I clear the codes). The car hesitates until about 2000RPM, and it gets better and drives as if nothing happens until it shifts or until you slow down. Its having trouble under load or when I'm going uphill. I'll drive it to my mechanic tomorrow and have him have a look at it. Catching the public transportation here sucks!! **You should see what a Quadcab Silverado 2500HD longbed truck gets for its MPG!! Yikes!!**
  10. Actually, 200 miles to the tank for a 3.0 is pretty normal. Where I live its VERY hilly and mountainous, and the stoplights every 600 feet don't help. When I was driving the car home for the last time, the engine light was blinking.
  11. The car was low on gas - but not too low. The trip computer said about 38 miles to E, and it was smidge under quarter tank (I get about 200 miles a tank, 50 miles to a quarter-mark on the fuel gauge). So my Fuel Level Low warning comes on at quarter tank. The owners manual states nothing about bleeding the fuel system :( I just had the car serviced in May. Its heading to a mechanic of mines tomorrow.
  12. So it happened. I just finished putting air in my tire, and was accelerating to about 30,35 mph. The next thing I know, the car starts sputtering, and limping (it felt like a flat tire). I look at my dash - no lights, no warning chimes, nothing. I limped my car into an empty parking lot, turned off the car, and turned it back on. Put some gas in(it was low). Started and stopped the car probably 6 or 7 times throughout the day, no problems... Then it happened again. I was stopped on an incline, and the RPMs dropped to about 550. It felt as if the car wanted to cut out. Turned it off, restarted it. The engine light came on steady. Stopped for some groceries on my way home. Went I started my car for the final time, I smelt something like an electrical fire. Engine light blinking. Slowly but hastily rushed home. I consulted my instruction manual only to find out that it might be a cylinder is misfiring - and it sure does feel like it. Probably even 2 or more cylinders. Anybody have any guesstimates of how much this would cost me? If its too much, I might have to take a loss and sell the car :( 2006 SE v6, 42k miles
  13. Because my SE v6 with 27k miles was $8,000 :)
  14. Ah, I see. It shouldn't be much different, if your tint people did what mine did and trim around the mounts ;)
  15. I had my guy trim around the rear view mirror. I personally think a car's tint is incomplete without an eyebrow. The weather is humid down here 365 a year, so tint is very commonplace among everyone (except for rental car drivers). I paid a guy I know that tints all our vehicles $180 - plus he came to my house. VERY high quality tint that won't fade or turn purple, guaranteed. Local legal limit is 35%, but I get away with 20%. Right after getting tinted http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/836/dsc00009d.jpg http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1699/dsc00004wa.jpg http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/4840/dsc00003zf.jpg http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/7885/dsc00001001.jpg
  16. Are there any major differences with how they look/perform? Care to post some pics?
  17. 2006, mine is yellow and hazed like crazy. I still haven't gotten around to cleaning it up though... Car is in the caribbean
