  1. Just hit 20,000 mile mark today less than 11 months after the purchase of my FFH. Its has been absolutely flawless and so far I am completely satisfied in every way possible. I have had zero issues with the car. 4 oil changes is all I've done. My family of 4 (kids 8.5 yrs and 1.5 yrs old) have been on long road trips to Toronto , Utah and Arizona from Dallas. We have been most comfortable in this vehicle. Looking forward to many many more miles of driving in my FFH :)
  2. I have put on about 19000 miles on my FFH and I have not experienced any sensation of loss of braking in this time. I have taken cross country trips and done a bunch of local driving. If anything I think the regenerative braking adds to the braking capability and I am confident that that car will stop even before the point where I would anticipate another car to stop. I think I will skip this software update - as I believe "if ain't broke dont fix it". For those who have experienced this, I applaud Ford to offer a solution. Cheers!
  3. Its definitely leather and I like it. It "feels" better to me than the awesome "looking" wood steering wheel on Lincoln Navigator and Lexus (which I used to own). Its probably personal taste and preferences.
  4. I bought my FFH on April 11th this year and just this past week I crossed the 10K miles mark. My long term fuel economy has been 38.5 mpg. This was affected (negatively) by a Dallas-Toronto round trip at "highway speeds" (resulting in one speeding citation). The average for that 3500 mile round trip was 35.5 mpg. Have changed the oil twice in this time frame. The car has been absolutely trouble free. So far this vehicle has exceeded all my expectations; and for us (wife & 2 kids: 8yrs old and 11 mo old) this car is a perfect family sedan. It is quiet and comfortable, has enough power, drives well, seats 4 comfortably, is very fuel efficient and looks nice. I also appreciate the technology features eg. the backup camera, blind spot info system, navigation, jukebox, sync and travel-link. I hope that blind spot info system becomes standard on all cars in the near future. I think that will help avoid a lot of accidents. I am somewhat of a car aficionado and have owned Lexus IS250, Lexus ES 330, Lexus IS300, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes C230 and Toyota Prius in the past 4 years. I can easily say that if FFH had a Lexus badge on its front grill it would sell for $42K+ and there would probably be a long waiting list for it. I usually dont keep a car for very long but FFH is the first car in many years that I am content with and intend to keep for a long time. Just this morning for my 18 mile drive to work I got 49.5 mpg. Not bad ... Anyone who rides in this car with me is pleasantly surprised by everything. When they step out, they go check the back of the car to see if it really has a Ford logo on it. Cheers !
  5. The sticker for my 502A FFH was ~32K. First I got X-plan. Then additionally they worked with me to make the deal and gave me additional discount. I paid 28K + TTL Thats "waaaay" less in my mind - I think its even lower than invoice. They also gave me a very good deal on my trade in (it was a Lexus ES330). This was in early-mid April. Goof luck !
  6. (In Dallas Fort Worth area) I bought mine for waaaay less than MSRP at Westway Ford on April 12th.
  7. It depends on individual dealerships. In early April in Dallas/Fort Worth area, I went to 3 different dealerships. The first one had it marked over MSRP. The second one would sell it for MSRP only. The third one accepted my XPlan offer and then gave me additional discount on top of that. They just wanted to make the sale and therefore they got our business. It all depends on the dealerships motivation and level of greed. Interestingly we have bought cars at the first two dealerhips in the past 5 years. So it all depends on the dealership and their eagerness to earn your business.
  8. Congratulations ! I am also a former Expedition owner (currently my wife drives a Navigator). Wanted a fuel economic vehicle as the second car so bought the FFH. It is a great car. I've been getting ~45 mpg on a regular basis for my 40 mile (round trip commute). Its half highway and half city - but during rush hour the speed rarely exceeds 60 mph even on the highway. So it works out well. I also wish it had HIDs but hey I like it even without the HIDs.
  9. Nice numbers! keep up the good work :). Like you, I also like the single outing mileage report given after each trip. I have only driven about 300 miles but am not even at half a tank yet. In my ~38 mile round trip commute I am starting to see around 46 mpg. I am still getting used to this new car and it is still in break-in period but I am very optimistic about its mpg capabilities as it breaks in and as I learn how to operate this fine piece of engineering more efficiently. Awesome job Ford !
  10. In Dallas/Fort Worth I went to 3 dealers. The first one had 2 on lot - they were asking about $3k above MSRP. I told them I qualify for XPlan. They said no. ==> No Deal The second dealer had 1 in stock. They were asking for MSRP but refused to accept XPlan pricing. ==> No Deal Third dealer had 2 in stock. They readily accepted XPlan, gave me an additional discount, and gave me a very very good offer on my trade-in. ==> We bought the FFH BTW - the first dealer has had the 2 cars on their lot for 3+ weeks now. Some dealers will do whatever its takes to make a deal and those are the ones that will sell their cars in this tough economic environment.
  11. My trade in was a 2005 Lexus ES330 with 56K miles on it.
  12. In Dallas/Fort Worth area some dealers are asking for up to $3K above MSRP. Some are firm on MSRP. I think dealers asking above MSRP are making a mistake. I believe the way the economy is, the way gas prices have normalized and are not as high as they were last year and they way auto sales have plummeted I dont understand their strategy of higher than MSRP pricing. Ford should just take this opportunity and just nail it. They should sell all the Fusion hybrids as fast as possible to capture this market. A lot of folks I would think would seriously consider the new 2010 Prius which is only a month or so away from dealer lots. I hope Ford and Ford dealers dont miss a golden opportunity to make a serious dent in Toyota's dominance in the hybrid domain.
  13. Yeah - you are right. I believe when one is driving a hybrid one tries to squeeze better fuel economy out of the vehicle. After all that is the point right? I believe I read somewhere that FFH can do 0-60 in 8.5 seconds which is pretty decent. I just dont think I, or most FFH owners, will be doing that on a regular basis i.e. lead foot acceleration.
  14. I also acquired a FFH this past Saturday and so far I am really enjoying it. I have been a Lexus guy for the past many years and still am. I traded in my 2005 ES330 for the 2010 FFH. So my quality point of reference is quite high. FFH is not quite Lexus standard as far as fit and finish is concerned but it is really good nonetheless. I am impressed. Honestly I am more excited about owning this car than I was about my Lexus IS250. Anyone who can afford to - I would highly recommend the 502A package. My fully loaded FFH (502A pkg) is just a marvelous piece of engineering. Sync works flawlessly and Sirius Travel Link is also something that I am enjoying. I have owned a 2nd generation Toyota Prius in the past and FFH does not rival the Prius in terms of fuel economy. I used to by able to get between 55 mpg with the Prius on average. With FFH this average is so far about 36-38 mpg. On a short 5-6 mile trip to the local Home Depot I was able to squeeze 52 mpg from the FFH. But I was using some hyper-miling techniques. But the experience of having owned the Prius is helping me out a lot in getting better fuel economy numbers. In terms of space and driving dynamics FFH wins hands down against the Prius - as far as I am concerned. FFH is not a sports car and so anyone expecting great acceleration will be disappointed. Those who realize what the purpose of this car is will cherish it. In short I am thrilled with this purchase and can not recommend this more highly to anyone considering its purchase.
