  1. Yes, that has happened to me twice since I got my FFH in May. Both times were in the morning on the way to work, and both times it cleared before I got to work. I'm not sure why it has happened, but could have been moisture. I'm not really sure the cause. It was raining once, but was not raining the other time, and I hadn't driven through any puddles.
  2. I took my FFH in for service this morning. The code on the check engine light was for a EGR flow error. The technician said that there was a TSB on this problem, and he reprogrammed the computer and it should be good to go. I'm glad it was something simple!
  3. Yesterday morning on the way to work, I was accelerating from a full stop to 40 MPH when the check engine light came on solid. It stayed light over the past 24 hours, and didn't turn off until this morning when I restarted my car after getting gas. From the time the light first came on until it went off the car had been stopped and started 5 times under normal conditions. My car is a 2010 FFH with 7,030 miles on it when the check engine light first came on. I know that a loose gas cap can cause a check engine light, but since our FFH's don't have a gas cap I didn't expect that to be a problem. But since the light went off after I filled the tank, is there any thoughts that the cap less system can open it self and cause the problem? Has anyone else seen this? I have an appointment Saturday at the dealer I purchased my car from to get a oil change, and I'll ask them to check the cap less system to see if it is moving freely internally.
  4. I am not a professional. However, after 26 years of doing my own taxes, and having tax credits and deductions, I think you are confusing the two. A deduction reduces how much you owe the government. A deduction subtract's from your gross income, and you are taxed based on your net income. So gross income, minus deductions such as personal deduction, and standard deduction (or itemized deductions of you itemize) determines where you fall on the tax table, and how much tax you owe. After you know how much tax you owe, you subtract out how much you paid, and then you know if you get a refund or have to write a check. But then comes the credit... A credit is different. It gets added to your refund, or subtracts directly from what you owe. So in your example, if you are getting a $4K refund before the credit, now add the credit, your refund is now going to be $5.7K.
  5. I do too, I understand that lighter cars get better gas mileage, and are better for racing and beating the next to you. But the ride is so much better in a heavier car. There are always trade-offs, but I like the balance achieved in the FFH. But back to topic, I have thought about the effect of a full tank on my overall mpg, so my philosophy is to take advantage of the whole tank for the best overall average mpg. I could operate in the 1/4 tank region if I really wanted to squeak out every .1 of a mpg improvement, but that would be way to inconvenient.
  6. Yes, your right, we can agree on that. Just like many others, I also am a previous TCH owner, and the FFH is superior. I did love my TCH, but after owning the FFH for 3 months, I look back at the TCH with the same kind of fond moemory as I look back at my first bicycle, great memories, but no interest in going back! ;) On a more technical point though, I am curious why reviewers keep coming up with 34 mpg as the FFH average. I haven't had a average gas mileage below 40 MPG since I took delivery. Of course it is in how they drive it, but 34?
  7. your tinting looks great! I do have one question, what is ceramic tinting? And how is it different from film?
  8. The omission of a gas cap was big news for Ford. They won awards and patents for the capless fuel system.
  9. Just to be clear, the 3 year Traffic, Directions, and Information is for the Sync system only, not the cars with a navigation system. The Sirius Traffic, Weather, and Information system that works on the Navigation system is only free for 6 months.

    Vent shades

I've used weathertech vent shades for years. Only issue I ever really had was that when I used them on my 2007 TCH, the window on the passenger side sounded like it was working harder to go up and down near the full up position. The window did fully close, but I didn't like how the motor sounded. On the other vehicles I have owned, or do currently own, F-150 and multiple Explorers, operation was flawless, and my wife and I loved them. But I haven't yet purchased these for my FFH. I plan to before fall starts.
  11. I think the same way. I live on a hill. A Big Hill. Most of my 27 mile commute home is relatively flat, and I have been averaging 46-47 miles, until I get to the hill. By the time I pull in the driveway I am averaging 41-42 for the trip. I keep telling my wife if we lived at the bottom of the hill it would be so much better on my MPG's... :) I don't think she cares about my MPG's.... LOL
  12. I do not have any issues either. The back windows are tinted to 18%, and the mirror works just the way it should.
  13. You should find out who does the new car ordering. It is usually a manager. They can look up your order and tell you if your order was accepted by the factory. The VIN isn't assigned right away. There is a series of steps a order goes through, you can find a thread that explains them if you search for it. The dealer can keep track each step of the way.
  14. I wish I had my owners manual handy, that sounds like something I read about. I think it has to do with perimeter intrusion... But without my manual I can't be sure. If I don't see a answer posted by tonight, I'll look it up this evening.
  15. I always use the parking brake when exiting a car. Are you suggesting I just should just stop using it because it sticks? I guess bigrigmike with the window issues should stop opening his window?
