Hmmm. This suggests that having the dealer replace the mirror might actually solve the problem. Perhaps some received a defective front sensor? I'm going to have to get my hands on some window tint and give this a try. It will take awhile for me to do this, test it and report back, but I'll let you know eventually.

Auto-dimming mirror - NOT!

2 years later and 3 attempts to explain it to my local Ford service manager and I still have the problem. He understands what I am talking about but hasn't heard any other complaints and wont address my situation. My lease is up in one year and I really want to buy the car, but this is my only gripe. Night driving is horrible. I've spent the last 2 years trying every different seating and mirror position combination with no luck. Even with the mirror all the way up and the power seat raised all the way up, it still will not dim correctly once a car gets close enough to your rear so that the 3rd brake like interferes. This happens to be a very common "following" distance for most people driving behind you, so it becomes a huge problem every time I get in the car when the sun is down. It's very sad to hear of people still having this issue in the remodeled 2010's. -

I wonder if there is a common link. People seeing the issue, do you have a factory installed spoiler? I dont and I have this problem. I think it all has to do with the rear window third break light in SEL's without a spoiler. Doesn't having a factory spoiler take away the rear window brake light and put it in the spoiler? I wonder if this is what is making the difference. One of these days I will get my car into the service department and have them look into it. -
Thanks for the reply. I picked them up and so far am happy with them. I think they look better than plain carpet mats that blend in.

I was also considering these oem all weather mats for my new fusion. Does anyone else have an opinion? Thanks!

Auto-dimming mirror - NOT!

I just got mine on Wednesday and I agree. So far, the non dimming mirror is my only complaint. I doubt it can be swapped out in my case since it has sync built into it (not to mention the fact that I paid for an auto dimming mirror!).
