  1. I recently installed an aftermarket radio in my 2010 FFH (Sync, but no navigation system). The compass on the old LCD readout panel is now stuck on "N" and will, occasionally, flash "cal" which, I believe, means it wants me to calibrate the compass. Does anyone have any experience doing this with an aftermarket radio? The manual instructions don't seem possible without the factory radio.
  2. I can definitely do that if I use a lighter touch on the pedal. For instance, my small test excursion last night after making the change was a run to Jack in the Box, (I'm not proud, please don't judge :) ). I was in EV from the time I pulled in to the drive-through to the time I left, with several cars in front of me. Prior to the year change, my FFH would have kicked into ICE every time I took my foot off the brake to move forward. In addition, none of my driving has been hill driving today. Flat surfaces only. The difference has been very noticeable. Again, having bought my 2010 used a couple of months back, I feel like this isn't the performance it probably had when it was brand new. But it's a vast improvement over where it was and, I suspect, maybe the best one could do shy of replacing the HVB. That being said, as someone who wouldn't even qualify, I still think it has class-action written all over it based on Ford's poor and erratic handling of the situation.
  3. Quick follow-up... Played with the display settings and they were, in fact, the culprit on getting the range of power your EV functions within before wanting to go to ICE. It almost matches the pic jake1110 posted earlier. I'm going to guess that, if I HAD my display configured that way, originally, I wouldn't have seen a range of availability prior to ICE engaging the way I do now. In summation, it's still not perfect, but I think, (when actually functioning after the date adjustment) it's maybe where we should expect it to be based on age? I do think I'd still like to eventually do a battery re-balance, just to see if it helps, (if the functionality eventually makes it into Forscan for the Fusion).
  4. I still going into ICE pretty quickly if I'm not gentle with the accelerator, but I can definitely use the pedal and stay in EV. My MO driving today, as I was testing things out, was to accelerate to 30-40 MPH in ICE, ease up on the pedal and quickly drop to EV, then use the pedal again, lightly, to maintain the speed in EV.
  5. Well, just got back from doing about an hour's worth of street driving and the date change using Forscan has definitely made a difference. I have attached a pic of my indicators in action and, while this shows me at around 35 MPH in EV, I was able to get to around 45 MPH a few times before ICE kicked in. It has also made HUGE difference in the acceleration issue, which is now pretty much gone. My indicators still don't display the way others in the forum have posted, (with the indicator lines showing the range of EV) but I have a feeling that's a matter of how you configure it manually and I haven't played around with that yet.
  6. Thanks, that makes total sense. I found a informational video on the Fusion dashboard that looks like it confirms this. The model is much later and the panel is different, but it specifically calls out the accessories drain on the battery. I'm going to be running my daughter to a friends house soon and it's a lot of surface street driving, so I'm interested to see how it does and how the panel behaves. I'm encouraged that my short run last night showed a LOT of EV, but concerned that the indicator still remained flat the whole time, (no increases in bars, as some others have seen). I'll post back with what I experience. At least I feel like I've crossed a large hurdle in terms of being able to do the date change and seeing some immediate results.
  7. Got it... thanks for the patience with a goof like me. Bought my 2010 FFH at auction a couple of months ago and still learning. :) So is the ACC column tied to the EV functionality, or is that just the cruise control indicator?
  8. Thanks for the info! I appear to have figured it out... stupidity on my part (wasn't using the "play button" at the bottom of the screen to open the options). I haven't had a chance to do anything more substantial than a couple of laps around the block. The EV use appears to have gone WAY up, just in terms of how consistently I can keep it there. However, the indicator remains flat and I don't see the bars go up at all. At some point on the forums, I saw a shot of someone's dash where, (if I'm remembering right) they had RPM's for the EV use coming out to the left of the EV section while they were driving. For me, the EV indicator will shift to RPM's when the ICE kicks in, but I see no RPM indications for the EV. Is there a way to enable that with Forscan, or is it possible I have something else going on? UPDATE: It's the ACC... is that directly tied to the status of the EV, or is that just cruise control?
  9. Can you share the scanner you used? I tried for a couple of hours this morning and, while I can see the info for my BECM, the configuration tab does not show up to allow me to change the settings. I searched for info on this in the Forscan forums, but only found snarky responses.
  10. Can't wait to hear how it goes! I feel like each additional person who gets this resolved gives me more to cite when I take my 2010 FFH back in, (especially, if they refuse to address it again).
  11. Agree with fun4u. We've had some 80+ days in Southern California since I bought my 2010 FFH and it hasn't changed the performance, other than staying in EV more often in braking and downhill, non-accelerator conditions, (although, never going above the base line). fun4u: Can you please post your results after you visit the dealer next week? Also, if you don't mind, can you post their info if they perform the adjustment and it works? I'm going to try a different SoCal Ford dealer in the next couple of weeks and I think it will help to be able to refer them to another dealership in the states.
  12. For the record, if anyone is in the Los Angeles area, the Galpin Ford on Roscoe in the Valley is useless and all but refused to do this. The technician I spoke with kept insisting that if there was an issue, the check engine light would be on. All he offered was that he could run a diagnostic for $195 dollars, but even admitted that it wasn't going to show anything if the check engine light wasn't on. What was interesting, though, is there were several people in the room where their consulting mechanics sit, and they were all looking at each other with an, "Oh crap" look on their faces, like this wasn't the first time this had happened to them. I was so encouraged to see Rodney's post and am now right back to being incredibly frustrated. Also, having bought the vehicle at a fleet vehicle auction, I really have no leverage with Ford when it comes to things like warranty or the potential of a class action suit.
  13. Great info, thank you! Will keep an eye out for the add, but it's at least nice to know it may be coming.
  14. Just out of curiosity, has anyone played around with Forscan to see if it has the ability to perform the re-balancing that the Autel MD 808 can supposedly do? I have a new USB OBD scanner coming this week that can toggle between MS-CAN & HS-CAN to open up more of the Ford specific diagnostics and tools and I'd love to initiate a re-balancing if it's in there somewhere. Otherwise, I'll do some digging and report back on what I find.
  15. Really interested to see if anyone gets this definitively sorted out in terms of what it takes to set the monitor's clock back, as it were. I just bought a 2010 FFH at a fleet vehicle auction in Southern California (it was a Cal Ed vehicle) and have "the problem" (only on "E" when stopped and it disappears immediately after pressing the accelerator). Otherwise, the car is in terrific shape and I REALLY like it. It's just this darned HV that's so frustrating. What would, ultimately, REALLY be terrific is to know if the dealer that supposedly did this one-year reset did it with an OBD II unit or if they were using more complex Ford diagnostic systems. If it was OBD, there may very well be some home-brew hope for all of us.
