  1. It is a lot of 'light' for night driving in rural areas, at the dimmest setting things seem fine to me. Too take it a step further, I would think some tinting film would do the trick (for car windows) otherwise on the DIY/cheap.... could easily use some peel/stick window tint (for blocking sun for babies) or another option would be tint available at big box stores in the window covering area for blocking sun/UV/glare in home windows. Would be pretty simple i would think. A pro window tinter could probably knock it out with scrap material in a couple minutes! Call around, likely would be very cheap.
  2. You are able to press the voice button on wheel....and respond with "Destination Home" and it does something(assuming 'home' is setup as a set location)? Mine just responds with a general "not found(or similar)....you can say" in response to everything i tried. I tried all kinds of things the other day... all failed. Or do you have to say "Navigation"....wait for response..... then "Destination Home" ? The interface is so painful....
  3. Really seems like it would make sense to use the front block heater plug-in also as a low power charger as well for the HVBattery...
  4. You are only going to get high battery levels generally from coasting down hill and extended braking. I have gotten to 90-100% on the gauge quite a few times, often coincides with periods of higher battery level on a freeway... followed by a long exit ramp with good braking that tops it off.
  5. Just another point of reference, I used Chrome or FireFox on my first update (to 3.8)
  6. I think the the voice system tied to the Navigation is weak and very painful to use. Shouldn't take a 2minute Question/Answer interview to get directions to a store near by... or the route 'Home' A driver should be able to just say "Navigation to Discount Tire" or "Directions to Home" ....and if there are multiple destinations near by it would respond "Discount Tire in Coon Rapids or Blaine?"
  7. There is a 'sequence' in the manual that explains how to have the factory door code displayed on the above steering wheel info screen (at least for the 2015 FFH) - it was kind of odd (like how you reset 'oil reminder' lights in many cars) I take it the 2010 doesn't have the in the manual in the door code section??
  8. Yeah sounds like in auto your overshooting your desired temperature setpoint. I haven't noticed that in my 2015. unless there has been an updated to the HVAC programming system, it could be an issue with your cabin temperature sensor (or other temp sensor?) or how it's mounted (causing it to react slowly...or too quickly to changes in temperature). Issues with too high/low of supply temperature could also cause issues with cabin tempreature control....could point to something failing with the thermostat/valve, discharge temperature sensor, or fan speed issue... Have you noticed it more when sunny or cloudy by any chance? Are your vents mostly open? I have noticed in my Fusion that the fan stays on all of the time regardless of 'heat available' for heating - where my other 'Auto' car (Saturn Outlook) the fan stays off until the engine temperature has heat to put out. So... not the best programming for HVAC controls - maybe their control loop for temperature regulation isn't great either.
  9. Didn't realize that Cobra, thanks!
  10. Seems like at first glance that it is a fairly tough thing to figure out (very intermittent), dealing with codes, however at least a few had this occur (now in the hands of Ford hopefully).... with hundreds of hours of 'tech' time invested by Ford (even before "Lemon'd"). SHould have been able to quickly root this problem out and turn it into Lemonade for future issues. As an engineer and control tech/programmer... I CANNOT believe that the systems controls and programming can't be monitored by an on-board laptop (or phone via Bluetooth), and trend log sensor readings and resulting software and controller outputs.... which then can be monitored by Ford techs or sent to Ford QC. If not.... what year is it???? These posts here can not be the only cases of this occurring - in addition similar systems are used in their other cars/brands.
  11. oh, just the basic gauge indicator on the dash. seems like when it shows about 20% left on the dash it will hardly allow any pedal pressure without the engine starting. My thought at first was that in cooler temperatures the car (even with hvac off) knows that the battery is super low, so it might as well turn engine on to get temperature up even without a demand for more power. But that doesn't jive with the noted sequence above or efficiency.
  12. My 2015 warmup appears heavily dictated by HVAC/Temperature settings - so my guess is likely that is what is driving the that Stage0 vs 1a difference. HOwever I seem to recall when it was colder that the engine almost immediately started up (hvac off) and I hadn't touched the gas.... (don't recall SOC, but i think it was above 15 or 20%). I think in some cases Ford programmed things to be a bit predictive based on temperatures and charge...etc. Still new <5k mi... so not so sure. Not looking forward to a MN winter... haha
  13. I think there have been some tests on this - I think the break-even point was around 50 or 55mph. I suppose the outside conditions and interior temperature set-point, along with dynamics of each car effects that greatly.
  14. That is the more expensive neoprene-like style I would think (with self sealing tape/glue). Winter is coming... already noticing the extra runtime on the ICE due to 'heating'... plus extended runtimes when it needs to get to minimum coolant temp(?). Glad I found this topic ! Gonna have to pickup some insulation asap!!!!
  15. Great post! Maintenance intervals on a hybrid are so odd...so many of the miles are electric only... curious what kind of change intervals you guys are seeing on your air filters?
