  1.

$80 for that just to prevent your tire spoilers from scraping on the street i would spend that kind of money on better things

plus my luck i would forget its there and the street sweeper destroys it or better yet someone trips and falls over this and now you got a lawsuit to worry about all to save your tire spoilers

it's NOT just the Flaps rubbing the entire front end hits as does the back end without this...lol I am not as worried as you all are about the street sweepers and people that can't walk right as I am my front end bottoming out...:)

  2. That may not work very well when the snow plows come in the winter or street cleaners in the spring. My driveway approach looks nearly identical to yours and I avoid the scraping noise by taking the curb at an angle and going very slow. I also think the scraping noise is not the front air dam of the car but rather the plastic pieces (don’t know the proper name) that hang down right in front of the front tires.

The street sweepers are like clockwork thankfully so we know when to pull em up...the curb is unavoidable even at angle...not my first rodeo on driving a lower car :P - the snow time, not worried...either...there'll be snow and i'll street park it if i have to anyways... I've hit both bottom fender piece and the Air Dam flaps that look like forward facing mud guards (they're air dams that drive air up into the engine compartment was my understanding) . backing up is easy with the reverse cam :) but i digress - i wish i didn't have to do it but allas my living conditions at the current time :( - My roomate's 2006 Milan doesn't bottom out, but he has larger tires on...and not quite as low setting either..

    Thanks for the inputs -

nv rick - I too have to watch the backing out as well...but its quite easy now with the mats - I tried the driveway 4 times separate ways, and got out and checked what was rubbing...before going this route ...it sucks but i'm not gonna worry too much, it works for now and i can live with it.

  3. I too just did my first Clay detailing job of ANY car I've ever owned...I was surprised at how effective this was, i started out using the clay as directed and rolled/kneaded it till I had it in a small oval and went to work...spraying...clay wiping in straight lines (not swirls) untill the sections i had worked on was to my liking and then dried/removed the remaining detail lube... What can I say, I was getting compliments from neighbors as I was doing this, asking me what I was using to make the car shine...they already complimented the new car purchase but thought I was putting on some kinda clear coat polish from across the street. Great stuff and cant wait to get the wax done...

This does bring me to a question....has anyone looked into the 3M Clear Bra's? I was thinking of having this done maybe....wondering if anyone has had one installed and their thoughts...it appears the paint in the ford line's maybe easily chipped, or it's the nature of the vehicle's design lines, who knows, but i've already gotten 3 chips in the paint and only ONE did i recall taking the impactor to cause it...

I've posted some new pics for folks to check out...

  4. Currently 35.8 - I drive one hour -One way to work (50.6 miles on 70mph speed limits) each day, but once in city i also commute quite a bit between geographically separated facilities...I make up my mpg there by using the cruise control all day to regulate my speeds..But when I hit the highway again...I lose some of that, additionally due to having a NEW CAR and giving it a good push on the highway to test it's performance...nothing overly outrageous...haven't tried to get top speedy or nothing silly, but 80-90mph is easy to drift into if you're not paying attention in this comfortable ride. Plus being very alert for road debris that may cause sidewall punctures. Absolutely thrilled with my purchase here!!

When I purchased the car it was at 32..and I reset it, and it again held about 32 the first week...but now that i'm learning how to break and drive it smoother, I think i'll even get up to the "40's"

  5. Many new cars, if not the majority now, don't come with a spare tire. You wouldn't need to buy a compressor because the car comes with one already along with the fix-a-flat goo.

Yep, I realize a lot of cars don't come with one, I just didn't really expect it was all...My own fault for not checking...As for the compressor, I hadn't looked at it, and thought maybe it was some "for use with fix-a-flat only" or something whacky. Thanks for the reply!

  6. Newbie (ford fusion hybrid owner), with only 450 miles on it currently, i maybe slow, but I wasn't born yesterday. I've only recently experienced my first flat on the interstate in a different vehicle, and after reading this forum, looking for customized accessories, I'm shocked!!!! Come on Ford, I just "spent" 38k on a maxed out spec'd car and NO SPARE?

I have not seen this posted and I know it will eat up space, but can a full sized rim with a tire fit in the trunk space at all? It's quite early in the A.M. for me, so I can't take the measurements and what not i'd need, but I am going to see if i can find an actual exact rim/tire match and slide it on the top of the HVB's....deflated if necessary.. the rest of the idea was, getting a capable micro compressor/power tools required, and a small jack. Then packaging them into the space provided for a spare.

Thoughts, and of course, being new here I didn't read all the forum topics i'm sure, but i've read enough in the last 3 hours straight to know I better sign up and give my 2 cents to find out some thoughts...

    My NEW CAR!
