  1. it's NOT just the Flaps rubbing the entire front end hits as does the back end without this...lol I am not as worried as you all are about the street sweepers and people that can't walk right as I am my front end bottoming out...:)
  2. Let me do some research...I just so happen to work for a company that specializes in these kinda measurements... Let me see if a friend may even have the official specs he can pull up to read in his lab...tomorrow..
  3. The street sweepers are like clockwork thankfully so we know when to pull em up...the curb is unavoidable even at angle...not my first rodeo on driving a lower car :P - the snow time, not worried...either...there'll be snow and i'll street park it if i have to anyways... I've hit both bottom fender piece and the Air Dam flaps that look like forward facing mud guards (they're air dams that drive air up into the engine compartment was my understanding) . backing up is easy with the reverse cam :) but i digress - i wish i didn't have to do it but allas my living conditions at the current time :( - My roomate's 2006 Milan doesn't bottom out, but he has larger tires on...and not quite as low setting either.. Thanks for the inputs - nv rick - I too have to watch the backing out as well...but its quite easy now with the mats - I tried the driveway 4 times separate ways, and got out and checked what was rubbing...before going this route ...it sucks but i'm not gonna worry too much, it works for now and i can live with it.

  8. An old topic...and wasn't sure if there was a newer one here...but here's something I did to prevent the dreaded curb bottoming out (at least for my own driveway - as the rest will have to be wise turning choices :) )
  9. I too just did my first Clay detailing job of ANY car I've ever owned...I was surprised at how effective this was, i started out using the clay as directed and rolled/kneaded it till I had it in a small oval and went to work...spraying...clay wiping in straight lines (not swirls) untill the sections i had worked on was to my liking and then dried/removed the remaining detail lube... What can I say, I was getting compliments from neighbors as I was doing this, asking me what I was using to make the car shine...they already complimented the new car purchase but thought I was putting on some kinda clear coat polish from across the street. Great stuff and cant wait to get the wax done... This does bring me to a question....has anyone looked into the 3M Clear Bra's? I was thinking of having this done maybe....wondering if anyone has had one installed and their thoughts...it appears the paint in the ford line's maybe easily chipped, or it's the nature of the vehicle's design lines, who knows, but i've already gotten 3 chips in the paint and only ONE did i recall taking the impactor to cause it... I've posted some new pics for folks to check out...

Finally got to washing the car today and spending time with the Meguiars Clay Kit i'd bought. I got the kit with the 2 bars, the detail lubricant, and microfiber rag. What can I say, I will put a coat of Meguiars Carnauba Wax on tomorrow, but this treatment left the car looking silky smooth and wet... Extra credit if anyone can tell me what's parked next to me :) Hint it's NOT a FUSION!

80 bucks well spent at Lowes... Interlocking rubber perforated matting, then underneath, there are 2 more rubber pieces with diagonal slanted grooves, with about a 2 1/2 inch overlay in a step formation (to adjust for angle of the curb dip)...then holes drilled evenly and held together with braided P-Chord underneath. (for 3 of them cost would have been 120 bux.... (350+ had I gone with the "professional curb ramps") - They work very well, and i have them lined up where i hit them perfectly based on the hood joint line to the quarter panel on the drivers side. These worked out better than even I could have hoped, they have decent weight to them, did NOT float away during our last down pour, and because they're "channeled" they let water pass nicely.
