No one buys a car expecting to earn money back. I buy a car based on how far that gas will take me. Any new car you buy you lose close to 6k when you drive off the lot. I think the "premium" is the same if you want to buy a luxury car or a cheap economy car - you chose to buy the more expensive vehicle based on your preference, not because the car will "recoup" costs... It just so happens that a hybrid reduces your monthly fuel cost. Once your auto loan, if you have one is paid for (just like the rest of us who buy a car on a loan) all you pay for is maint. and fuel. The fuel costs just happen to be lower with a hybrid, sorry for soap boxing.

Guys, this might sound silly, but anyone else had issues with the sun melting the adhesive on the velcro on the blocks causing the outer edges of the cover to flap? It doesn't get real hot here, but in direct sunlight that adhesive just gets gooey... Granted we don't have direct sunlight very often... (Seattle)

Extended Warranty and Maintenance Plan
Wingmn replied to billford's topic in Owner's Manuals, Warranties and User Guides
Anyone who purchased the ESP from flood ford, how can you check if your coverage is active? I received my "contract" via email, but nothing else, was wondering what others have seen. -
Latest on my battery saver. After PM'n Ashley on this thread Ford called me, and I had just driven the car about 120 miles, and the battery saver condition was not present, so I told them I didn't want to schedule an appointment until it was failing, so they called me back this past Monday and left a message that they were closing my case number and to schedule a appointment if I had any probs. That evening (this past Monday) the battery saver condition returned. I scheduled a service appointment for this morning. Just got my car back, they replaced the battery, and performed TSB 13-6-23. I'll keep you guys up to date if anything changes.

Extended Warranty and Maintenance Plan
Wingmn replied to billford's topic in Owner's Manuals, Warranties and User Guides
Well, ordered my premium care ESP off of Flood today. $100 deductible, 7 yr 125k miles. I have 11k miles already, and bought my FFH used :). $1580 was my price. I feel good about it, all that tech can't last last forever, that's why I bought it. -

Thank you for posting that 12k mile fact, I was going to wait just a little longer, but im at 11,2k so, thanks! -
The covers would help a little I think, but with temps like that, and traffic as bad as that, the immediate suggestion is try to use the heated seats if you have them as your primary heat source. That might reduce the gas engine (ICE) cycling on and off a little. The little consolation I have for you is 23mpg moving little to no where in 2 hours is really very good :)

Main upper grill cover made by ptjones. Quick and easy install -
Installed and ready to roll! :) I think adding a washer is a great idea - just read the above posts. Great job Paul, I was SUPER pleased at how it has all come together, I might add some door edge protection around the edges of the panel for paint protection, that was my other thought.

Welcome to the forum, sorry about the prob with your new FFH. No idea on your issue, sounds like a PCM type issue, computer control over the drive-trains went bad.... Just my NON educated guess. Please let us know what happens. Welcome again, hope it gets resolved quickly.

Mine has been getting the messages each time we shut it off since the weather has gotten cold. It's consistent with the cold weather, when I bought the car back in Aug I had only seen the message once.

Paul sorry about your deer meeting, hope you are ok. I did not see your thoughts on a price just for the main cover, have you had a chance to think about it?

I still have my 93 SL2 :) I made the mistake of removing my rear window tint on my own the wrong way. I damaged my rear defogger lines, repaired a few, but still have not fully repaired them, not hard to do, but if I would have removed it the correct way, there would have been no issue at all... Just realized that my quoted post was from March, sorry all.... No longer a pertinent reply....

Paul, as I mentioned I am interested, but out of the states, and I only want the main grill cover, any thoughts on a price for just the main cover? I should be back in the states by Friday and will be ready to order, but like I said, only the main cover.

I have noticed that my windshield fogs faster and requires defogging more often than both my 93 Saturn, and my 09 saturn Outlook. But it's an issue that I happily live with, given this is the most feature packed, technologically savvy vehicle I've ever owned. Minor annoyance.
