  1. Yes it's normal for the HVB to support hills if the computer thinks that will result in the most efficient increase in power. However, if you accelerate just a little slower, or let up a little on the uphill, the ICE can handle the hill and still be charging the HVB. Eco cruise try's to do this for you as well, if you have that.
  2. One of my daughters has my 2013 now. It has about 110,000 miles, with no major mechanical problems since the FCIM went out early on. Breaks are still original, and she's happy with it.
  3. I'm also concerned about headlight ratings after reading the IIHS article: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/headlights/topicoverview The 17 Fusion scored "Poor" on headlight safety, and that prevented a "top safety Plus" designation. I'd love to upgrade my headlights (I have a 15 now) but I don't know how to evaluate aftermarket options. Any advice from our excellent forum experts would be a great help!
  4. Let's try again! Three pretty hybrids in a row. The 2013 SE Ice Storm in the middle is my first FFH that one daughter took over. The Silver one is my other daughter's 2015 SE, and I now drive the 2015 titanium closest to the camera.
  5. I think I might have some kind of streak going here. My 2013 is in the hands of one of my daughters. Another daughter has a 15 SE hybrid. I'm now driving a 2015 titanium hybrid. The 13 has had a few problems including a failure of the FCIM, but it's going strong. They're both coming to visit today, so I'll post a "fusion family" pic for fun!
  6. How much energy dos the seat warmer consume (at the high setting?) I've been using that instead of turning on the heater. (Of course it helps that I'm in Sarasota )
  7. We now have a $30,000+ pizza delivery machine. The Forum strikes again!
  8. Good point about that it isn't needed if you're a careful driver, but I want all the backup help that technology can give me. ? I have lane keeping, and I leave it on all the time. It took a little getting used to at first because it wants to center you in your lane, but you can easily override it. LCA has stopped my tendency to hug the side of the road too closely, and it has warned me a few times of "lane drifting" in the last two years. Even with shortcomings I rate it a net positive.
  9. Autonation Ford in Saint Petersburg FL turned mine on for no charge after I showed them posts from this site.
  10. And, you haved saved about 13,000 pounds of co2 from the Miami skyline! Great job on the consistent mileage.
  11. I can answer that one! The power/home combination forces your iPhone to reboot instead of just waking up when you shut it down normally.
  12. Have you tried heating up that area with a hair dryer? That might provide a temporary fix. It sounds like the seal is busted though, and you'll need a dealer repair. Maybe the hairdryer will warm things enough to dry out and re-seal, if you're lucky!
  13. I was surprised that I couldn't find my size on TireRack, so I did some digging... When I go to the TireRack website, and use their search tool for 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid, they show two possible tire sizes as: Original Equipment Size 1: 235/50-17 or Original Equipment Size 2: 235/45-18. That isn't what's on my car. I have 225/50-17's Michelin Energy Saver A/S, and that is the size on the door plate. TireRack does stock 225/50-17's for the Michelin Premier A/S, so I called TireRack and asked them about the selection grid that only offer's the 235's. They said that their records show that Ford used both 17 inch sizes 225 and 235 in 2013, which I hadn't heard before. Question for the group: Are there two different 17" tire sizes used in 2013, or was the TireRack representative wrong? If TireRack is wrong, then other users will have a hard time finding the right size tires there.
  14. New Tire Time Soon I'm at 50,000 miles, and I'm starting to think about tire replacement. I'm sure a lot of 2013 owners are in about the same place as me, or will be there very soon! I've had good results with the OEM Michelin Energy Saver A/S, and they are an affordable replacement contender. I'm also looking at the new Michelin Premier A/S. They have a V shaped groove that gets bigger as the tire wears down to channel water away. Michelin claims better rain performance than competitors as they age, which matters to me here in Florida. Also, I'll never have to drive in snow, so that's not a factor for my needs. Here's the Michelin rating for both tires: Energy Saver A/S Wear Life 7, Fuel Efficiency 10, Handling 8, Braking 8, Comfort 10. Premier A/S Wear Life 10, Fuel Efficiency 9, Handling 9, Braking 10, Comfort 10. Does anyone have pros/cons, thoughts, suggestions? I couldn't find the Premier's on TireRack, so I came up blank on real world comparisons. I've learned more about my car from this forum than anywhere else, and I value all your opinions and feedback.
  15. I already had the "light show" of warning lights fixed a few months ago. I wonder if I got the new part or the old when mine went... I show the recall on ETIS, so I will have to get them to confirm the part number on the restraint module they installed was a new version.
  16. If i remember right... Hybridbear or larryh has an extensive explanation of this ICE stage, and how to skip it. I don't have the link (I'm on my iPhone), but if you drop the gear selection from drive to low and back again when the ICE first comes on the FFH skips this phase, improving overall MPG. I've used that tip ever since I read his original detailed post. It skips that inefficient phase of accelerating with HVB, while the ICE is warming up without providing power.
  17. My service advisor was partly wrong. The coverage for the airbag system is 5 years, or 60,000 miles, not "unlimited" miles. I was at 45,000 so that's why I was covered. Here's a link to the 2013 warranty guide: http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/2013HybridWarranty.pdf Page 7 shows the coverage level, but the image wouldn't paste easily here.
  18. I had to have the same replacement of the restraint module a few months ago. Same symptoms that mainefusion had of every warning light flashing at once. I was worried that it would cost a small fortune, since I was well over 45,000 miles by then. My service adviser called me back with good news: "safety systems are covered for 5 years, with no mileage override." I didn't question him further, but I was very happy that Ford stepped up and fixed it.
  19. Remember, HB, that your ICE only runs 1/2 the time, so you should get twice the tire life! (Hey, it works for oil... Right?)
  20. We're slightly off topic about headrests, but I wanted to add some important safety info from the IIHS.org. I urge expresspotato to keep the headrest in place. It's not there for daily comfort; it's there to protect your vital head in a crash. Yes, it's closer than in the old days, but it has to be to protect you. Here's a link to the IIHS about proper adjustment of the "head restraint." IIHS also answer's exactly "what hapens in a crash," and it's overwhelming that head restraints save lives. Seatbelts aren't comfortable either, but 88% of us have gotten used to them for safety. http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/neck-injury/qanda#neck-injury
  21. I didn't notice an mpg improvement from the resonator, but it definitely took the edge off the ICE growl. My lifetime MPG (per car calculation) is 44.1 mpg over 45,000 miles.
  22. I mangled the "Clueless" quote: the correct version is "two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Fine holiday fun." My daughters would be horrified at my movie gaffe, but I stand by the review of the air intake.
  23. I installed my new air intake two days ago. It definitely helps quiet the rough sound of the ICE. Two thumbs up, fine holiday fare.
