Glad to hear that the upgrade is working in LA. I live in Orange County and I have yet to do the upgrade. I am hoping ford will work out any kinks before I do it. I have been satisfied with the FFH. I get on average about 41 mpg. I am still leary about the upgrade.

I agree with all the comments. I get on average over 40 mpg. Yesterday broke 48 mpg cause I had a huge downhill. I have gone from being a lead foot to driving very conservatively and grandma like. I have not done any recall stuff yet and still I can get 40 - 42 or more mpg.

I took my FFH to the dealer because the engine light was on. Since it has 4100 miles on it I thought perhaps it needed an oil change. NO!! They had to replace the vapor management valve/canister purge valve. What the heck. It's a brand new car. Come on Ford. otherwise I like the car. Also the dealer told me that I would have to do the Recall upgrade before my Tags are due to renew. The state won't give me my Tags if the recall is not fixed. Interesting.

I have been reading all the posts on the PCM upgrades and I am really leery to have it done. I average about 40-43 mpg but I really work for that. I drive like granny. I think I will wait and see if ford gets better and more consistent in their upgrading of the Fusion hybrids. I can go into EV at 64 mph without the upgrade. Still slow though. Like I said, I am driving like granny.

Yes, I have become a Buddha like driver. I have had my 2013 FFH ti for just 1.5 months and my driving has changed. I have for the most part always accelerated slow and steady and braked slow and steady, but I had a really heavy foot. My old car is a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe. Damn fast car too. Love it. Now time to economize, save fuel and the planet. I like my Ford FFH and it is a little game to try and get good mileage for me now. I am enjoying it.

If I drive 70-75 mph to work I get about 36.5 mpg

I have read this article a couple times because it is so informative. I live in congested Orange County Ca and I sure wish I had some country roads so I could use the EV more. I have to use HWY to get to work. Speeds here are 70- 80 mph. I have noticed high mpg when there is traffic because then I am in EV mode

How are the Energi's selling vs the FFH?
Twinkle replied to GrySql's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
I was looking at the FF energi to buy one but it was the tiny trunk that made me steer clear. Plus I would not have a plug in at work. Mostly it was the trunk that unsold that car for me -
Today I was able to get 43.5 MPG round trip to and from work. Totally trip distance of 39.6 miles. On the way to work I go driving 70-80 mph. On the way home not so fast. Also on the way home I hit traffic and then was in EV alot. But happy with the results. I have not done the upgrade calibration yet. Heck my car has only 1440 miles on it so far. I can't see how others are getting up in the 50's MPG?

Thanks everyone for all the posts. I am a brand new FFhybrid owner. I have had my car just over one month. I received a letter from Ford on the update and I have an appointment for my car this Wednesday. So far, I have been doing ok with mpg. The car has about 1k miles on it. At most I got it to 43.5 mpg. But living in Southern California I am having a hard time keeping it at 62 mph on the freeway. It's almost killing me. I really have to dig deep and find my inner Buddha. This morning on the way to work I drove like 75 mph and then slow on the way home. Total average was 41 mpg. My commute to work is mostly freeway. So I think I will wait on the update and see how it pans out in the long run. Plus want to see how HybridBear's long distance trip goes

What did you drive before getting your FFH?
Twinkle replied to hybridbear's topic in Competing Products
My last two cars have been Honda's. I just replaced a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe V6. Absolutely loved that car. It drives really well and I was very pleased with it . However, it started having problems. I looked at Honda's, and I even drove the 2012 Honda Accord for a week while my car was being serviced. I was not impressed. It did not handle as well as my 2000 Accord. I did not even look at the Pruis cause I think they are so ugly. I looked at and drove the Hyuandi Genesis, Sonata, and Azera. Was very interested in the Genesis Coupe but it did get good gas milage. Plus, I thought I'd get alot of tickets if I bought it. Lol. A few years ago I had looked at buying the Ford Fusion Hybrid but I didn't because it had no trunk. Now with the new design and look, I really became interested in it. I looked and drove the Energi and would of boughten it, except for the postage stamp size Trunk. So I bought the FFH instead. I waited 4 months for it being ordered by the dealer from the factory. So far, I like it alot. I am hopeful my MPG will go up but considering I have only had the car a week. So far I am getting 40.7 MPG.- 119 replies

Thanks for the info Hermans. I noticed that if can piss off others trying to accelerate in EV

I'm a brand new FFH owner of one week. It has really calmed down my driving. I use to drive in the fast lane here in So Cal and would go 80 mph. Now I drive in the slow lanes and if possible (rare), I can go 62 on EV. But 62 mph is real slow here!.

Hi, I have had my Ice Storm FFH titantium for just one week now. I really like it. I have been reading the posts on the internet and at this site to try and maximize my mpg. For this past week, I have gotten 40.5 mpg, which I think is pretty good considering I am just learning to drive a hybrid. It's hard to go slow on the fwy in So Calif when the average is about 70- 80 mph I am wondering if I am accelerating properly. My coach on the vechicle looks pretty good, but I wonder if it is better to accelerate slowly to speed and then back off just a bit to kick in the battery. Or is it better to accelerate alittle bit more briskly and then back off to kick in the battery?
