  1. Glad to know you're still around. What happened to your tires that you have to replace them so soon? 38k miles is not very many for a set of tires, especially not expensive ones like the Goodyear tires on the FFH.

Hey hybridbear.... Nothing happened they all had even wear and were just about down on the indicator. My ride is much smoother now!!

Here is what it looks like now - https://plus.google.com/photos/113334680236721862429/albums/6038643149491282001?authkey=CLTYl6emucGECA

  2. Hey everyone! Long time no post... 14 months and 38,000 miles and still love my Fusion! Just put my first set of tires on and decided to replace my wheels... Made a post in Wheels and tires about that... My lifetime is sitting right around 40 but I have had lots of long drives at 75-80 mph. I love getting 39-40 mpg at that speed!

  3. Hey everyone... Been a long time since I've posted here but I do follow several threads. After 1 year, 3 months and 38,000 miles I had to replace my tires. I decided to replace my stock Titanium wheels with some Drag DR-33's and it looks awesome! I chose the Pirelli P7 All Season Plus LRR tires and it is smooth and quiet!

I am selling my stock wheels if anyone is interested let me know. One wheel has a small ding but has no bearing on balance or its integrity and the other 3 are perfect. I've been rolling on it since it happened at around 10k miles. Here is a link to a G+ posts showing the wheels and what tread is left.

  4. Yeah, I can see how the onset of winter might dampen the Happy Talk Spirit a bit. Still, it's worth noting that any car will experience a dip in performance when faced with the extra burdens of keeping a cabin and engine warm in very cold weather. So we still should be happy.

Actually, I'm more and more happy as time goes by, because I read here and see that my averages are right in line with what many others are experiencing. The software upgrade improved things quite a bit, too. Plus, I get to ride in a nicely heated seat all winter. I have to say that these seats heat up a lot better than the seats in my old Volvo 960 did. I get toasty warm in a hurry, and in the morning I use the passenger side seat heater to keep my breakfast warm after I stop at the drive through on my way to work :)

I could not be happier with my FFH! I know my Fuelly sig doesn't look like I would be happy (I have missed a couple fill-ups) but I have done a lot of long interstate driving at 75-80 because I need to get there in a hurry lol.... On normal around town/short highway drives I easily can obtain 50+ mpg. I love my car!

  5. Great trip from today. Weather was marvelous, about 55 degrees so I had the sunroof open enjoying the nice weather. Friday, Saturday & today I drove about 150 miles and averaged 57.3 MPG for the 3 days

Also, since doing a Lifetime reset after the PCM update these are the stats as of today. It's been about 2000 miles. Brake score ticked over to 99% from 98% today. MPG went from 52.3 on Friday morning to 52.6 as of today.

That's freaking awesome! I see you are still getting some phenomenonal mpg's!

  6. Ok so another happy :yahoo: post from me today!! Had to fill up today and I had my best tank average ever and it included lots of highway miles. You know I have been rolling since it has only been 5 days today since my last fill-up and I have gone 504 miles. If I didn't have to drive so much interstate I would easily be getting numbers like the hybrid gurus we have on here (you know who you are hahaha) but either way I am very pleased with how the update has improved my mpg! My around town drives range anywhere from 50 to 60 mpg :worship: :shift: .

Here is the trip 1 reading.

Here is the trip 2 reading which was reset after the update when I picked the car up on 9/8.

As you can tell I am a driver :peelout: lol.... Maybe I should apply to VW they always say "Drivers Wanted" hahaha...

Now here is the Fuelly for this fill-up which I did 3 clicks before stopping. My overall Fuelly average would be much better had I not had that bad 31.9 mpg tank but that's ok!

I love  this car hahaha!!!

  7. Ok so I have another happy :headspin: post.... Went to our Cookeville campus yesterday which takes me over a ridge and got some pretty good (definitely better than pre-update) highway numbers. Both ways I had the ECO cruise set to 70 mph. I forgot to take a pic when I got there but I was right at 41 mpg and below you see the number when I got back!!! :shift:

    IMG_20130924_184225.jpg

Here is another pic from another drive I made where approx 75 percent was 65-70...

    IMG_20130923_165213.jpg

I have well over 300 miles on this tank and the tank average is right at 45 mpg :happy feet: (highest I have ever had for a tank average!) with a good portion of that running interstate speeds. I definitely believe that 70 is the sweet spot for good mpg on the highway. I can go 75 and it will drop about 4-5 mpg. The update has most definitely helped me gain approx 5 mpg highway and even more than that city. The drive to our Cookeville campus would never yield me better than 38-39 before I had the update done regardless of my speed.

No more popping/clicking and way better mileage, this car is awesome!!!! :worship:

  8. Ok so I had to do an unexpected trip to our location in Daphne, AL today which is an 8 hour drive. I left the house with approx 3/4 of a tank and it was around 45-46 for mpg so far and I decided to just run it until I needed gas instead of topping off. Well after driving :shift: on the interstate up through the ridge with ECO cruise set to 70 mph and hilly terrain this is what I ended up at!! :yahoo:

    IMG_20130916_111852.jpg

I actually only pumped 10.38 gallons after 2 clicks so it came out to 43. something on fuelly. I have also added a new fuelly badge to my sig for post update tracking. I have been extremely pleased with the PCM update and it has helped my mpg by a 3-5 mpg increase. My first fill up that shows on fuelly is not entirely accurate because there was a lot of idling (which still kills the mpg average) on that tank one day when I was stuck in traffic and shopping with the wife. I'm not going to sweat my tail off just so I can have a good average mpg reading lol...

I have found that 70 on the highway yields a very decent mpg but you try inching up and around 73 hit takes a big hit lol.... After I filled up I had right at 41 mpg average for approx 1/2 when I arrived at my destination. :happy feet:

    Very, very happy!!!

  9. I think running these cars at 70 or above really defeat the design of this car. The wind resistance alone is going to kill mileage, and yes, the five mph difference between 65 and 70 really does make a difference.

BTW, do the math and calculate how much longer it would take to drive your trip with the 5 mph difference and then try driving slower. I think you will be impressed .... :)

    JMHO

I totally agree with everything you just said! Huge loss from 70 to 75....

  10. I left my car with my dealer last week while we were away on vacation to have all of the TSB's dealt with. My observation after I picked it up yesterday, I have only driven a very short amount of time. Just FYI my car has 13,500 miles on it.

    1. No more popping/clicking!

    2. So far no more doors not unlocking by grabbing the door handle and "Key Not Detected" messages when I start the car. It was occurring fairly often and there is a TSB for a software update related to the module that controls those functions.

    3. EV mode comes in over 62 and seems to go into EV mode much easier and sooner than before at all speeds! I will have plenty of opportunities (and looking forward to it) to test the highway mileage next week as I will have to do a lot of travel for work.

    4. I have no definitive proof of this but it seems that the Regen during braking is more efficient and provides a better recharge.

    5. They applied the updated MFT patch after the PCM update and everything seems the same as before

    6. The creaking (not a TSB issue} that was a constant and torturing noise from the driver side B piller is fixed!! Thank goodness because that was driving me and my OCD crazy lol....

I have reset everything incl. lifetime numbers and I am going to create a new Fuelly car to track after update numbers. I will add the Fuelly badge as soon as I have my first fill up. I feel like (and hope) that my highway mpg will improve!

  11. Again, got over 47 to work this morning!! Too bad I cant drive to work every trip. The return trip home is always lower mainly due to hitting more stop lights and heavier traffic.

So glad that this car is performing as it should for you!!!

  12. Ok so this is my best highway route commute :shift: to work to date!!! Right on the money!!! Was running a little late so I didn't take my city route but it was cool enough to turn climate off and crack the windows just a bit. I will be taking my car in to the dealer next week for service incl all of the TSB's that are out.

The only bad part was my wife used my car yesterday and when I got home I noticed my lights were on???? I thought humm wonder where she is going and then noticed there was no one in the car  and she had left it running for about an hour and a half !?!?!

Well there went my tank average and it hurt my lifetime as well..... She forgot to hit the button when she got out. Good thing we live in a nice low crime neighborhood lol....
