You could go to a local dealer and have them search for/go get one from another dealer further away. That's what mine did. Took maybe 20 minutes to find the exact car I wanted about 240 miles away, and their driver went to pick it up two days later. I got the car with about 270 miles on it, but it was exactly what I wanted and it only took 4 days total from the day I asked for the car.

Mine is a pretty basic model feature-wise. No moon roof or drivers assist pkg. My previous 2 cars both had moon/sun roofs, and I rarely opened them. Not only that, they became sources or air leakage as the cars aged. I also took pretty good care of them, paying extra attention to the seals. But I decided I wasn't interested in that feature for the FFH (I also don't have a garage right now so that part of the feature wasn't important to me). I would have been interested in the drivers assist package, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for my car to be without it, and when I found my exact car on a lot, I moved fast.

I remember seeing stories (was it on this site somewhere??) where the dealer would leave cars running as they rearranged their lots for whatever reason. I've even seen stories where the dealers forget that the hybrids were running (since they're so quiet) and leave them on for long periods of time on accident. Something like that could have run up your on-time, and simultaneously killed your lifetime fuel economy.

I certainly see and understand the benefits of the Ti's, but after I saw the Dune leather interior, I couldn't go without. To me, it almost makes the interior seem bigger. Really the only thing I really wish I could get is the Sony sound system, and the push button start would be nice... but the dune far outweighed those things in my decision making process.

My salesman had no idea about that feature, actually. I informed him when he called me this week to check on how everything was going, just to help him out.

My story is very similar to yours. I managed to find my perfect car (Bordeaux Reserve, Luxury package with Dune interior, My Ford Touch) and no additional options that I didn't particularly want. Remote start is also something I'll have to add on later. No big deal. My local dealer helped me find it about 270 miles away, went and picked it up on a dealer trade, and I had it 2 days later! Since then, I've been so pleased with it! Let us know how you like it!

I'm a new VA guy myself, but I'm down in Roanoke/Blacksburg. Took my delivery yesterday. First commute to work, mostly on highways - 45 MPG. I'll take that!! Granted that trip might be more downhill than the return but hey, beats anything I was getting in my old Jetta 2.5.

So I stopped by my local dealer today. They're trading with another dealer in Northern VA , so I'll be getting my new '13 Fusion SE Hybrid on Thursday! It's Bordeaux Reserve, and it has all the options I wanted. I'm excited to play with it! I wanted to stop by and say hello, I've been researching this car for months now and the posts on this site have definitely helped.
