Rear Window Issue
aschulz261 replied to GrayStrider's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Basic physics says it's impossible to have an optically pure image with a compound curve. It's not a flaw with the glass. I believe the manufacturer Ford uses has done all that is possible to minimize that distortion, but there is no way around the fact that it's impossible. I'm sure that some are worse than others though. Anybody have a 3rd or 4th Gen F Body from GM? Same distortion....same problem. Compound curves in the glass. I think the lines from the rear defroster make the distortion much more visible. Just be thankful that glass can follow a compound curve, otherwise we would all be stuck with flat pieces of glass for windows. -
Weird anomaly today on a road trip - anyone seen this?

I have had mine do that a couple of times. It sounds like it crashed and rebooted itself. -
I did the MFT reset and I don't see the MyKey thing in the lower corner any more, but the 2 dash screens won't adjust their brightness.
-
Mine must be broken. I wonder which software updates this. I haven't had either of the most recent updates done since I got it home here to Hawaii. I'm seriously scared of taking it to the dealer here. Odd.....I just noticed today that in the lower left corner of the MFT it said "volume limited to MyKey". I don't have a MyKey and the volume was completely adjustable.

Location of 12 speakers in the Sony system?

It would be nice if it would STAY in surround. -
Using ET mode, no matter what I do, the DimDisplay stays at 9989. Using the dash brightness controls adjusts the speedo, needle, and PRNDL. They can be adjusted from 13-9989 Using the MFT and setting it to Auto, Day, Night, or Off, nothing changes, it just stays at 9989. Is anybody with an MFT able to adjust the brightness of the screens on the dash?

I have had my HyTi for a few months now and have some questions I hope someone out there can answer. 1. When doing a remote start, is the 12V battery charging? 2. When doing a remote start, is the amount of time the vehicle is "running" factored into average MPH for the trip/tank? 3. When doing a remote start and the ICE starts, is that fuel factored in to the trip MPG, or just the tank MPG? 4. not a remote start question. Does anyone know how to adjust the brightness of the screens that flank the speedometer? The brightness control on the dash only adjust the speedometer face and needle. The brightness control in the MFT only adjusts the MFT. Maybe mine is broken.....

what was my mileage headed UP the volcano? uh........ummmmmm........turns head to the side and mutters.........28.6.......... I think it just goes to show that you can make these things generate whatever number you want.
-
This probably shouldn't count since it was so easy, a caveman could do it. Go to the top of your nearest volcano, push it over the edge and hold on.

Coming down from Haleakala -
including airline miles, probably like 14,000

That Vanquish had Aston Martin of Cleveland tags on it. Obviously BRAND new. I have no idea why you would send something like that here. Most speed limits in towns are 20 mph. Highways are 45 mph. I think there is about 4 miles of 55 mph total on the whole island! On the other hand, first trip home...from the harbor to my front door.....was 50.3 mpg.... Woo Hoo!

I got notice a couple days ago that I could pick up my car after FINALLY making it all the way to Maui. I went and picked it up this morning. This was almost as exciting as picking it up brand new from the dealer. Here it is fresh off the boat: It sure was great to see my baby finally almost home..........until....... I turned around and saw THIS parked 50' away! OMG is that thing gorgeous in person! Finally, after 82 days and 6100 miles, it's finally home.
-
Dropping the car off in LA, I am getting it shipped for $1100 to the Kahului harbor on Maui. I thought that was a pretty good price.

I have played with that and it only seems to adjust the brightness of the speedometer, not the screens.

I picked up my FFH Titanium on June 5th and have been on an almost continuous road trip since that day. I picked it up in Wisconsin and have hit the following states with it: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and finally California. 7 weeks and 6100 miles. I got to stop and see family and friends all along the way. Now it's time to send it home to Hawaii. Here is a few things I learned along the way: This car is amazingly quiet. I used to drive with the windows open in all of my other cars. After spending time in this one, I find the world is just too loud with the windows open. Gas mileage is about what I expected. Obviously spending days on end on the freeway with the cruise on, it isn't going to get spectacular mileage. with the ECO cruise set at about 70 and the AC on, I was getting about 38-39 mpg while on the east coast. I think I hit a best mileage of a little over 40 with the AC off. Altitude really sucks. It turns from the "little engine that can" to "the little engine that tries real hard but just makes a lot of noise". It seems that below 3000 feet, the engine wants to stay around 2000 rpm and you have to work it a little bit to go above that. Above 4000 feet, it is rarely BELOW 3000 rpm. As soon as the engine starts, it's instantly at 3000 or above. Above 8000 feet, or on a step incline, I recommend just turning the tach off because seeing it just hanging at 5000 rpm scares me too much! Heat seems to hurt the mileage somewhat. Probably because the AC needs to work harder. 80 MPH speed limit definitely puts the hurt on the mileage. add 4000 feet of altitude, 112 degrees and 80 mph speed limit all together in Utah, mix in a bit of a head wind, and I got the worst mileage so far. 36.8 mpg. That bit also brought my lifetime average down to 39.2 mpg. For a while, I had it a little above 40 mpg. The car has had exactly ZERO mechanical issues. I HAVE crashed the MFT 3 times.....all in Indiana....all about 30 minutes apart....hasn't happened since. The navigation is useable. The interface isn't the easiest to use, but I found that using the SendToCar app on my phone makes the navigation utterly simple. The only real complaints I have are with the cruise control. WHY does the cruise have to be turned on EVERY time you start the car? WHY does the last speed that was set reset itself to 29 mph if you come to a stop? The only question I have is how do you turn down the brightness of the screens on the dash. The brightness know only adjusts the speedometer. The display settings on the MFT only seem to adjust the MFT screen. It is set to AUTO now, but doesn't seem to change the brightness of the screen at all. If I set the MFT to NIGHT, it dims considerable, but not the screens on the dash. If it is set to NIGHT, the screen is unreadable in daylight to turn it back up. I simply could not pass up this photo: http://s1367.photobucket.com/user/aschulz261/media/rsz_Vegas_zpsbc080725.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 and 1 final parting shot dropping it off at the boat. exactly 6100 miles on it. http://s1367.photobucket.com/user/aschulz261/media/rsz_readytoship_zpsbcfc5912.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Hopefully I can get one coming off the boat once it gets home next week.

I got mine on June 5th and just rolled over 4200 today. So far, mine has been from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina and back to Wisconsin. That trip was just over 2000 miles and averaged 39 mpg. I left Wisconsin and have gone through Nebraska and am currently in Colorado on my way to Las Vegas with a final destination in LA to put it on a boat to send it home to Hawaii. So far it is averaging 38.5 with the cruise set at 78 for the past 2 days. It has a lifetime average of 39.1. With the amount of freeway driving, I think that average is pretty good.
-
put mine in. It feels lonely way out here too.

I'm glad you got yours. I picked mine up yesterday. Mine had a total of 4.0 miles on it. I guess the recent ones are leaving Mexico without a lot of additional miles on them. Off for tint tomorrow morning. I have never driven a hybrid before and my trip to Milwaukee this morning netted a 38.7. I'm happy with that.

It was built May 18th and I am picking it up in Wisconsin. I will do some cross country driving with it before butting it on a boat and bringing it home to Hawaii. -

If your new one gets here before mine, I am going to be extremely frustrated. My HyTi was ordered the middle of Feb and has an estimated delivery date of May 31. But, on the other hand, I hope your second one is better than your first one.
