  1. Wow, great info! You sound like you work for Ford!!! Very suspicious indeed. :-)
  2. My iPhone5 is a company phone so I don't have a choice in getting a different phone, unless I want to carry two phones with me.
  3. It is annoying for me too. I tried to find the setting but could not see any way to turn that off yet. So for now, I have my big screen set to Entertainment and the little screen on the right of the speedometer set to Navigation. I find this works well for me and it is less distracting to.
  4. Wow, FFH is holding its value really well! My FFH had a MSRP of just under $35,000 and I ended up buying it for $31,500 so it seems a bit high acdii. :-(
  5. So far, I have not done anything with the tire pressure. I think I can get a bit more MPG if I inflate the tires higher than the Ford recommended setting of 35psi (I think). What pressure are you running your FFH? If you inflate beyond the 35psi, does the ride suffer?
  6. Does your MFT play nice with iPhone5? Since my one and only MFT master reset, it's been acting up a bit. When I connect my iPhone5 via USB cable, both the REPEAT and SHUFFLE buttons don't respond. I think this is a known issue with iOS devices. Anybody know a fix for this? Thanks.
  7. Yes, I agree that you can keep the car in EV better if you control the throttle manually. However, you can do the same by engaging the cruise control and controlling the speed with the SET + and - buttons, simulating the manual throttle control which is what I do. Again, like you, I only had my Fusion for two months so I am sticking to using cruise control for now. I think for very short stretches, what you are doing probably will work better. For me, I have long uphills and downhills, exceeding a mile or two. So for this type of terrain, I get better results if I stay on ICE, feathering the throttle while going downhill and charging my battery, cruise when I get to the bottom on the flat terrain, then throttle up the hill using ICE again. There is a button on the gearshift knob off to the left. When you press it, you will see an indicator on your dash. It's a yellow depiction of a car going downhill. Press it again to disengage. acdii explained it a lot better than I can. If you can get 60+ MPG using ICE, like when going downhill, I got better results if I don't "waste" my battery going downhill. What ends up happening is that when I get to the bottom of the hill, my ICE has to work harder, which results in poorer MPG, because ICE has to propel the car as well as charge the battery. If don't use the battery going downhill, I can cruise a bit on EV and when the ICE comes on, I get better MPG because ICE does not have to propel the car AND charge the battery. Just remember that you can only go a mile or two in EV mode so it is important that you drive the car to get better MPG on ICE. Sorry, if I am not making sense. Thanks.
  8. I will float this idea. I think she has never ordered a car and waited for one before. But I think this would be better for her. She will get exactly what she wants. As you mentioned, it will also let her get better pricing as well. Great idea Hybridbear, I will suggest this. Thank you very much.
  9. Yeah, I don't know this for a fact but I think she is high-maintenance. From an example of a fine individual on this forum, I am so politically-incorrect in assuming that Lexus owners whine a lot! So sorry! Just kidding! :hysterical:
  10. Wow, she is pulling some serious g's when changing lanes. Good thing that FFH has bigger tires with more contact patch than the other hybrids with moped tires! In SoCal, sometimes, if you signal for lane change, it's just an open invitation for the car in that lane to speed up so you can't get into that lane. So sometimes, I use it after I sneak in there and then signal to let them know that they missed me! :-)
  11. Both excellent ideas! Thank you. I will propose that she research cars.com and contact the dealers to see if they can find the car for her. I will also propose that her man-servant, I mean her husband, really roll up his sleeves and do the leg work now. I already serve a master of my own. Thank you.
  12. Panasonic WT series LEDs also very excellent. I've been shopping for a TV for overa year. Whenever I think I am done, my boss (wifey) turns it down. Sigh... And yes, I wear the pants in my house, I will tell you. But my wife tells me exactly which pair to wear!
  13. We have 'holes everywhere! By the way, terryb, I see HDTV as your interest. Let me ask because I am in the market. Plasma or LED? I've been eyeing those Panasonic VT series plasma.
  14. Absolutely agreed. It's just that she is not the kind to drive 100 miles to buy a car. She drives a Lexus!
  15. I look forward to your review. Tell us how "Fahrvergnügen" feels like!
  16. I am trying to help my co-worker buy a new 2013 FFH. First of all, the inventory is really short in Greater Los Angeles area. She wants Ruby Red with all the fixings but she can't find any! Second thing I noticed is that the price seems to have gone up. It looks like the price for a nicely equipped FFH went up by about $1,500-$2,000. FFH must be selling really well! Anybody know a good Ford dealer in LA area who actually has FFH to sell? Thanks.
  17. According to fuelly.com, my last tank got me 46.7 MPG. My best morning commute was at 54.7 MPG and my best evening commute today at 47.3 MPG for my 28 mile commute. I think it helps to drive on the tail-end of the rush hour when the speeds are lower than 65MPH+. The SoCal temperature for this tank was also favorable as it was warm for better part of this tank of gas, hitting 90F and staying around 70F. Ad sorry for the guys who have to brave 10F weather. But living in SoCal, 50F is pretty chilly! Love my FFH and SoCal weather! :-)
  18. It has been just over two months since I bought my 2013 FFH and I am a first time hybrid owner. I absolutely love my 2013 FFH! First and foremost, I love the car regardless of the MPG that I am getting. It's just a great car. It is not to say that I am getting bad MPG either. On my commute, I am averaging 50 ~ 54 MPG in the morning commutes and 40 ~ 45 MPG in the evenings, the difference being that there are more downhills on the morning commute. Anyway, I wanted to compile a list of driving techniques that are specific to FFH in a single place so that we can all benefit from the group's collective knowledge and experiences. I think it will help the new owners who may be experiencing bad MPG issues so that they know it's the driving techniques not the car. I admit that I am probably the least knowledgeable on the subject of how to drive FFH correctly. However, I started to put together some things I have noticed and I am just going to put it out there, hoping that other, more experienced members will contribute once I get the ball rolling. Please excuse my ignorance and lack of experiences. I would love to learn what others are doing!!! So here it goes... 1. Try not to exceed the speed limit. 2. ECO cruise control is your friend. Use it often. 3. Brake early, gently and smoothly. Listen to the brake coach. 4. Try not to use EV going downhill, instead, use downhill to recharge. 5. From standing start, use ICE to accelerate smoothly to the speed limit and engage EV by lifting off the throttle or setting the cruise control. 6. Try not to accelerate using EV from dead stop, unless it is downhill or nobody is behind you. 7. Try using EV on the freeway, If nobody is behind you. 8. On level roads, you can go about a mile in EV with full charge. 9. On gentle downhill roads, you can use EV for close to 2 miles with full charge. 10. On the freeway, become the right lane cruiser. 11. FFH will let you use EV above 62MPH. You just can't engage EV above 62MPH. 12. On very steep downhill, use Hill Decent Control. It slows down FFH without using brakes and charges battery faster. Remember to disengage! 13. On long downhills on he freeway, stay at or above 65MPH so the EV does not engage. Throttle ever so slightly so that the car maintains or accelerates, ICE meter shows no activity, instant MPG meter is at the highest, and the battery meter shows charging.
  19. Freedom of speech cuts both ways!!!
  20. Wow, very impressive, considering the temperature and the distance! Nicely done.
  21. Especially the weight! My back still hurts from sleeping on the sofa!
  22. I must say that I have been really happy with my morning MPG numbers last week. It's been warm and nice here in SoCal last week in the high 60's in the morning and I saw numbers like 53.4 and 54.7 MPG. However, this morning, It was freezing 50F and i definitely saw a huge reduction the MPG. i can't tell you how disappointed when i saw the MPG numbers when I get to work. I only saw 50.4MPG. ;-) Someone mentioned that we can expect 2MPG drop per 10F decrease in temperature which is dead on accurate in my case. And I really was a bit disappointed at seeing 50.4 because I thought I drove well. Except for the braking score! Funny how one can get spoiled so fast!
  23. So let's use the trick that spammers use to avoid keyword searches. Replace the name with an image. I nominate this one.
  24. Wow, I am not sure if I would give Ford another try if I had a bad experience that you are having. Well, I really hope that you get the normal one this time!
