  1. I would definitely recommend it as money well spent. The package is $895 and includes:

    Rear Camera

    SYNC Services

    MyFordTouch with 8" screen

    110V Outlet

Rear Camera is a real advantage, not only in backing out of a driveway, but if you parallel park or if you prefer to back into a space. I back in every time I go to an area or sports event since it is so crowded when I leave that I want to be able to squeeze my way into the line of traffic. If I have to back out of the space, I'll be there indefinitely!

SYNC Services I haven't used much so far. The few times I tried, I was using the wrong key words and got no assistance. But I've only had my FFH for a week now, so I'm still learning some of the features and how they best work.

MyFordTouch, I absolutely love! It divides the screen into 4 quadrants - Phone, Entertainment, SYNC, and Climate. It allows you to change any of them with voice control so you never have to take your eyes off the road. For example, press the voice button and say "Call Home" and the phone automatically dials the phone, and you converse through the radio speakers. Or say "Temperature 72 degrees" and the temperature changes; "Tune to FM101.5" and the station is changed, etc. You could live without it if you never had it, but once you get used to using it, you'll have to have it.

110V Outlet - I haven't used it yet, so I don't know how important it really is.

I know that some people previously made comments regarding Adaptive Cruise Control, BLIS and Lane Departure System - I ponied up the cash for these, and I think they are amazing! I have a pretty long commute to work each day, and the Adaptive Cruise Control is amazing - If I am cruising on the expressway and there is traffic ahead, the car applies the brakes pretty hard, slowing the car down to almost a complete stop. I even use it on surface streets, doing 40 or 45mph, and it keeps a safe distance between me and the car in front of me. The lane departure system doesn't sound particularly exciting, but in the rare instance where you stray a little out of your lane, the steering wheel applies pressure and keeps you from crossing the divider lines, and vibrates if you don't correct it. If you have ever reached for your phone or changed the radio station and took your eyes off the road for a second and drifted a little, you'd appreciate having this feature.

For me, the nav system and sunroof were not very important, and I saved myself the $2000 that these would have cost, but I did spend the money on the safety features. I know that everyone has their preferences, these are just mine. Good luck once you make up your mind!

  2. I also don't understand the bitterness between brand fanatics. There is room for all of the different models, everyone wants something different in his/her own vehicles, and we should buy what most appeals to us. My dad drives a Prius, and I personally don't care for it, but he absolutely LOVES it. And even he admitted that my FFH was amazing.

The reasons I chose the FFH over the TCH is because:

    1. Toyota does not offer the luxury options like BLIS, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure, etc.

    2. TCH interior materials do not feel to me to be of the same quality as the FFH, especially the horrible faux wood on the console.

    3. I see hundreds of Camrys every single day, both Hybrid and ICE. I like to have a vehicle that everyone doesn't have.

    4. When I drove the TCH, the cutover between EV and ICE was very evident; the engine seemed to surge between formats. The cutover in the FFH is practically imperceptible (unless the windows are open and the audible running of the gas engine is audible.)

    5. The Ford dealer pointed out the positive points of the Fusion to try to sell it to me, while the Toyota dealer criticized the Fusion.

To anyone who purchased the Camry, I wish you good luck and hope you are happy with your choice. For me, the Fusion was the only choice.

  3. I find I'm getting improved mpg using the ACC since I have it set in ECO mode, so when it does accelerate back to speed, it does it gradually, and most times, the car remains in EV mode. My overall average mpg to date (total of 425 miles) is only 38.7mpg, but for the first 100 miles I really didn't know how to effectively drive a hybrid. Since each trip I take now is well into the 40's, I think the average will continue to climb.

  4. There were a lot of responses to my original post regarding the ACC option, so I thought I'd add a new one on this as well.

I have been using the ACC regularly, and it really helps keep the mpg elevated. I live in Fort Lauderdale and work in Miami, close to 40 miles, mostly highway. As you can see on the attached picture, I achieved 45.5mpg on my drive into work, the same result going home. I used ACC to keep the car accelerating smoothly. On surface streets, I reduce the ACC to 40-45mph and as the streets get more congested, the car maintains a consistent distance from the car in front of me. Of course, if someone cuts in front, I have my foot ready to brake.

After reading some of the postings from adcii, I was concerned that I would have trouble maintaining the 30mpg range, so now I'm convinced there is something wrong with his vehicle. On one short trip (1.5 miles) to the supermarket, I kept speeds consistent using ACC, and achieved 57.2mpg.

  5. I just took a quick shopping trip, took surface streets instead of the highway, and used the Adaptive Cruise Control. When I arrived, the attached screen told me I got 45.7mpg on this 10.3 mile trip. Is this correct? My overall mpg on the Empower screen shows 40.0, so I want to make sure I am correct in assuming that I did achieve 45.7mpg on this trip. If so, I guess I'm learning how to better drive the Hybrid, and am hoping to bring the overall number up. If anyone can answer this, I'd sure appreciate it, Thanks!

  6. It seems like an eternity since I ordered my FFH, but I finally picked it up today! At least in my area (Fort Lauderdale, FL), mine is literally the only Tuxedo Black one I have come across so far. Makes me feel like mine is a little unique! LOL! I attached one picture.

So far, I've averaged 39.4mpg over the 60 miles I drove today. Not bad, but I'm hoping it will improve as the car breaks in and I learn more about how to properly drive a Hybrid. But regardless, so far I LOVE it! I am especially impressed with the Adaptive Cruise Control! I was on a 3 lane surface street with CC set for 45mph. As I approached a slower moving vehicle (I had my foot hovering over the brake just in case!), I could feel the system applying the brakes as I approaced - a little bit of an eery feeling, but awesome! As I changed lanes, it accelerated again, all without my having to do anything. The BLIS is excellent, but sometimes it seems to pick up vehicles that are still in my mirror, and doesn't pick up a car that is squarely in my blind spot. If it does this consistently, I'll have the dealer check it out.

I'm still trying to learn more about how to fully use the SYNC system and MyFord Touch, but it seems pretty intuitive, and I've done OK even without reading the manual.

  7. tombarker13ffh, we are about on the same schedule! I ordered my FFH on 12/18/12, and I just found out I will have it within the week. I'm so excited, and I love that I am reading about people who are getting the kind of mileage I am hoping I will get as well. There are a few people who, for whatever reason, are not getting the 40+ range, but it's great to hear the good news about yours. I'm lucky to be living in FL, where I pretty much NEVER have to use the heat, so I"m anticipating at least decent MPG (without having to sacrifice the heat!)

    GOOD LUCK! And WELCOME!

  8. Coach, I gotta tell you, I always said I don't like silver cars, but yours is a beauty!

Mine is Tuxedo Black and is due here within the week. I usually wash my car every weekend, so I"ll probably do it more often w/the new Fusion! :hysterical3:

  9. I'm the opposite of what jeff_h said - I have been waiting for my FFH (factory ordered) since mid-December. Found out today I will have it WITHIN A WEEK!!!!! :happy feet:

Up until now, I've been mostly stalking in the background, reading everyone else's views. Can't wait to get my car and join in the conversations from real-world experience!
