    It looks like you found a Platinum, if it has the tan leather seats and the fog lights from the picture. I had a 2017, kept it until 2021. Make sure you treat the leather, especially on the driver seat, regularly. The leather looks good, but it isn't particularly good quality. I ended up having a professional detailer come to restore the leather in mine. Other than that, Im sure you're gonna love it! Congrats and good luck! 


  2. After 9 years of FFH ownership (2013 SE, followed by a 2017 Platinum), I bid a fond farewell to the Fusion and Ford. I loved my Platinum, but it only had 50K miles on it, and I got an offer on a trade that I couldn't refuse. I traded in the FHH on a Toyota Avalon Limited Hybrid. Big changes, a lot to get used to. I will especially miss all of the fantastic information screens showing fuel economy, especially the green leaves growing! But the Avalon is a much larger car, more luxurious even than the Platinum, and it gets the same fuel economy. Over 50K miles, I averaged about 42.3 mpg with the Fusion, and on my first fill-up with the Avalon, I got 42.1 mpg. 

    I have enjoyed being a part of this forum, especially when I was new to the Fusion in 2013, up through when I got the 2017. Then things started kind of dying down, and I have been much less active on here lately. 

    Good luck to everyone and their FFH's, I will be checking in just to see what's happening.

  3. I have a 2017 Platinum Hybrid, which I bought in late 2016. I happened to have gotten a legitimate "lemon", but Ford back me up completely, and replaced the car for me with the exact same model, right down to the color. They stood by their product and did right by me. My replacement vehicle now has about 42K miles, and I have had zero problems with it. I am averaging about 43mpg, and that is actual calculations (the dashboard computer shows it at 45.3, but that is always higher than reality!). 

    Just a thought, if you can find a Platinum for sale, consider it if it is in good condition. This was the top of the line trim level in 2017-2018, but Ford didn't sell many of them, I'm not sure why. There were no options available, everything was included, it has higher quality quilted leather seats and quilting on the door above the armrest, a stitched leather dashboard, and heated and ventilated seats. Nationally, if you can find one now, they are selling for about $14-17K, the original price was close to $40K.

  4. Does anyone else have a Platinum model? Mine is a 2017 with less than 30K miles, and the front seats are wearing unevenly. I brought the vehicle into my local Ford dealer hoping for a warranty replacement or reupholstery. The dealer took pictures and sent them to Ford who said I must have spilled something which damaged the seats. That is total BS, nobody is more careful with his/her car than I am, there is something defective with these seats. Is anyone else with a FFH Platinum having the same problem?

  5. Pure electric cars will need to get a lot better for me to choose one as my only car. I have no interest in needing to find a (rare) charging station every 300 or less miles, possibly wait for an opening there, then wait another 30 minutes to one hour to charge. With my 2015 FFH, I drive 500 miles, then stop at any service station (they're everywhere), and am on my way in five minutes. I read a recent article about how a round trip from LA to Las Vegas took 5 hours in a gas car and 8.8 hours in an electric (and they didn't even have to wait for an open spot at a charging station).

     

    I agree, which is why I originally said I hope charging stations become more prevalent. But what I would really like to see is something I saw recently about electric vehicles in Japan - they have stations where you drive in, a machine positioned under the vehicle removes the battery pack and replaces it with a fully charged pack, and you drive off in about 5 minutes. This would be the turning point for electric vehicles in this country.


  6. I had a '13 SE that I kept for 4 years, traded it in on a '17 Platinum, and one of the things that impressed me so much is how tightly screwed together these vehicles are. My '13 had about 80K miles on it and remained rattle free to the very end. And my '17 feels just as solid.

    This early on in your ownership should NOT be rattling. I, too, read your comments to mean that the rattling is ruining your driving experience, and that should not be happening on a new vehicle.


  7. Don't expect a legit answer here. You'll be told you are driving too fast and you should have gotten an ICE only vehicle. I'm doing about the same as you with my 2018. I'm jealous, I'm lucky to get 40 in town at 1 mile over posted speed limits.

     

    The car can only do what the car can do. I try and drive a bit more leisurely than I did before driving a FF, I maintain about 60mph on the highway and I get anywhere from 43-55mpg, better if the road is flat. There's nothing wrong with driving 70-80mph, but you can't expect that the battery is going to be of much assistance.

    I drove to my in-laws today, about 150 miles away, and I maintained 70mph most of the way. I got just about 40 mpg, but bumped up the mpg for the whole trip a bit once I got off the highway and was driving on local streets. Final mpg (according to the dash computer) was 42.7 overall.

    I found something else, however ... SHARKFIN ANTENNA!! I just noticed that when rotating the exterior view on the site. The brochure has a Rich Copper Titanium on the cover and it also shows a sharkfin. Gotta be true, right?

     

     

     

    I could never figure out why Ford didn't use the shark fin all along. It's about time they are adding it.

    I replaced my stem antenna with a shark fin from CD3 (http://cd3performance.com/Visual-Garage-Shark-Fin-Antenna-Fusion-Milan). Easy to install and no degradation to radio or satellite reception.

  9. I would give the same answer regardless of what car you were looking at:

    1. Pay for a CarFax report to see the car's history. I know CarFax is not perfect, and not a guarantee of a trouble-free car, but it is at least a good indicator of the car's history.

    2. Find a mechanic who is familiar with hybrids, and have him/her look thoroughly over the car, check for problem areas. If you are buying from a dealer, if they refuse to let your mechanic check it out, pass on the vehicle and keep shopping. I purchased a used Volvo in 2008, and found the car I wanted. I had a mechanic check it out and he advised me that there were serious problems with the engine and it would cost me a lot of money down the road. I passed on the car and found another one a week later with higher miles (40K), but a clean bill of health from the mechanic. I bought and kept it until 2013 when I bought my first FFH. I sold it with 130K trouble-free miles.


  10. I can't believe how shortsighted Ford is being. The Fusion is more than just the Hybrid version, there are also multiple Gas powered versions. The same thing with the Taurus, the Focus, the Fiesta. But shouldn't the decision makers at Ford realize that our low gas prices are not going to remain this low forever? Once prices surpass a certain threshold, people will be dumping their SUVs. Anybody remember Hummer? And when this happens, where will they go? Honda, Toyota, Hyundai. And Ford will be racing to play catch up.

    I agree with the members who posted earlier that they would be better off cutting back on their trim lines - I mean, does the Fusion really have to be made available with no less than SIX different engines? And this doesn't even take into account how much money they spent on creating the new Lincoln Continental, only to determine that it will also be cut when the Fusion and Taurus are discontinued.

    Sad to think that my next car will probably be a Honda Accord Hybrid :(


  11. St Louis George, I agree. I traded in my 2013 SE for a 2017 Platinum and I couldn't be happier. I absolutely love the quilted leather seats and the leather dash, not to mention the Adaptive CC with Stop/Go, heated and ventilated seats, it is truly a Lincoln for pennies on the dollar. I actually drove an MKZ back to back with the Fusion Platinum, and I couldn't justify the extra $10-15K for the Lincoln.

    FYI, here is an interesting video on the 2019 - to be honest, other than the chrome strip being reduced, I can't see much of a difference.

    I would really hate that. With a nice touch sensor right on the door, it's so easy to lock your car. Other companies like GM that had systems like that have stopped using them because there were too many customer complaints. Too much risk of bad situations, especially in situations where somebody gets out then walks around to try to get their kids out of the car.

     

    Like most features like this one, you would have the option to turn it off if you don't like it.


  13. I had a 2013 SE and now a 2017 Platinum, and what has still not been added is an auto-locking system. I had cars in the 90's that locked automatically after about 30 seconds if you didn't lock it yourself. And with the SecuriCode keypad, it's not like you are going to get locked out.

    And my long-term gripe is the cut-rate stalk antenna that Ford has chosen to put on the Fusion, even the upper level models. I replaced mine with a shark fin, and it makes a huge difference in how the car looks. When I see shark fins on entry level models on other brands, it really makes me wonder what Ford was thinking!


  14. I didn't like it when I first saw it, but it has grown on me. Especially because I replaced my 2013 with a 2017! Since then, I've notice that Jaguar is doing it, so is VW on the latest Passat, and BMW is doing it on the latest 7 series. Now that I'm used to it, I think it give balance to the rear view of the car, plus, at least on the premium models, it lets the taillights do a 3/4 circle instead of a full circle. Looks really nice when taillights are on.

  15. Why are companies so short-sighted these days? When gas was $4-5 per gallon a few years ago, people stopped buying them, it put Hummer out of business, and filled the used car lots with SUVs and trucks that people were dumping in order to get more economical vehicles. Now that gas is $2 per gallon, everyone is going back to the gas guzzlers. Gas isn't going to be cheap forever, and when people start trending back to mid-size economical sedans again, Ford is going to have to play catch-up with Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, VW, Nissan, Chevy, etc, by having to design and build a sedan from the ground up. Ford will have the Taurus, but that is more of a full-size car, and isn't really competitive with most of the competition. The Fusion is selling well, admittedly down this year, but so are the sales of other mid sizers.

    I guess we can enjoy knowing that our 2017 and newer models will never look outdated by the replacement model!
