1. I also purchased Blizzak's ... Here is my thread on MPG Gain http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9446-125-mpg-jump-pcm-or-tires/ Tire Size: 215/55/17 --- Steelies for the win!!! :)
2. How about the law of averages .... I've taken this same trip 50+ times and never once have I seen a MPG number above 40 until Saturday.
3. Lake Michigan creates it's own weather / prevailing wind
4. I haven't notice any real difference ... No one thinks it could be the PCM update?
5. The drive is NE to SW along lake Michigan so there is no tail wind I always use cruise for this trip (set at 60MPH) It was 28-38 degrees outside and the heat was set to auto (72) I am religious about my tire pressure checks ... the old tires were always at the correct PSI I always fill up before I leave (almost always at the same gas station). I took the trip two weeks ago in 65 degree weather and got the normal 40 MPG .... I guess we will see what happens next time... but something has changed. I know this car too well ...
6. Same exact diameter wheel and I have literally driven this same route 50 time with extremely consistent MPG results.
7. Last week I had snow tires put on my car and had FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER: 14E02 completed on my car. I have a specific trip to my hometown that I take very frequently (2.5 hours on cruise). I took the trip last night and ended up with 45 MPG When I usually take the same trip with my stock 18" wheels (prior to the update) I would get right around 40 MPG. I was expecting my snow tires to KILL my MPG ... but now I am stumped ?! My car has 29,000 miles on it and has been extremely consistent at sucking in the MPG category.
8. I put in the LED Fogs last week :)
9. .... My lifetime average at 27,000 miles is 31 MPG .... Ford says it is "normal" .... Thats what I get for buying a first production run car
10. I love the car.. but my MPG is terrible. What is your lifetime average?
11. You guys make me want to drive my car off a cliff... My average since the update is 29.8 MPG ....
12. They did back in June and got 41 MPG ... which they say is normal ...
13. this is a screen shot of the letter; they never responded to my email about the second MPG test I have not tried going to another dealership and test driving another car... seems like a waste of time to confirm what I already know
14. One thing I have noticed is the rev meter on the left side no longer turns yellow if you floor it. Also the MPG instantaneous doesn't turn yellow when your mpg drops low
15. Mines below, it is unfortunately accurate. Mostly 55 mph short trips
16. I drove 55 mph for two hours straight (adaptive eco cruise on) and only returned 42 MPG. I can confirm Ford claims that 37/41 MPG is "normal" (I have a letter from ford stating it). My best tank of gas was 38 MPG
17. I would love to try this; I live in Northern Michigan (Traverse City), and I visit Grand Rapids/ Muskegon often. If anyone would like to help me with this I would be interested in the results. The Ford dealership has done two fuel economy test on my car and they only got 37MPG and 41MPG...
18. still getting 31-35 MPG .... so frustrated ... 11,000 miles on the car and never had a tank anywhere near 40MPG ...
19. I think I have the honor of having the worst fuel economy of any 2013 FFH owner... Just got the update today... Hope this helps my car Might not matter tho... I started the lemon law procedure earlier this week for a headliner issue
20. The outside temp defiantly makes a difference, I think warming up my car in 60-70 degree weather would result in a lot less gas loss but my problem is terrible gas mileage in cold weather... So warming my car up in freezing weather is counter productive
21. This is my 2cents on the topic... I have 7000 miles on my Hybrid and am at a lifetime average of 30 MPG I tried numerous experiments this winter with warming up my car... This is the result These trips were the same route, same time of day, and similar temps** Trip #1 Warmed up the car for 10 minutes then drove to work Outside temp 35 Degrees Second trip previous day Outside temp 35 Degrees Car Warmed up for ten minutes, turned off, turned on and the driven to work So idling dropped my MPG by 24.9 mpg By my calculations my car used .119 gallons of gas to warm up for 10 minutes... I repeated this process about 5 times and got the same results.... My car burns way to much gas "Warming Up" ... Warming up my car is not efficent and ford does not recommend it
