Ford Etis page lists my Fusion as a Transit Connect
salprint replied to salprint's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I'm not really new....I've been here for about a year. I just don't post much, and I didn't think to search before I spouted off about it. But whatever...I won't be here much in the future. And I've been in many forums, one in particular is the Thunderbird Nest forum which I've been a member of since 2004....never got treated this way there. So.....see ya. -
Ford Etis page lists my Fusion as a Transit Connect

Sorry.... -
I bought a C-Max and a Fusion as the same time, I get the 47 mpg as advertised, but because of some class action lawsuit or something I received a $550 rebate anyway. Being both cars are pretty much the same as far as milage and drive trains go...are the Fusion owners getting the same rebate as C-Max owners. It would work out great for me....
-
It really is frustrating...I read all these reports from Consumer Reports and so on, and I can't understand what they are doing that they can't get over 38mpg. I get over the 47mpg rating on a regular basis and I don't lose a minute from my commute time and I drive at the highway speeds. I think I'll just stop reading all this stuff and enjoy my car.

Here are a couple of pics. On the home screen at the bottom there is the little icon with the leaves that gets you to the diagram screen.
-
yes..it was the SD card that I had to wait for to come in. But it took over an hour to do the update. I'll try to get some pics of the new screen and post them.
-
When I picked up my Fusion, they told me there was an upgrade and they didn't want to put in the navigation because they were waiting for the updated version. We brought it in last week and they did the update. It added some new features which are pretty cool. One of them shows a Diagram of the car on the screen and it shows how the charge is flowing or gas if you are not in EV mode. It also shows all the functions and if they are active or not. It also explains why the engine might be running....like calling for heat or engine cold, or acceleration, etc. I like it....I hope I can get it for my C-Max.

Its seems reports like this will do anything to knock the American Car. I even saw one response where some guy says at least all the Japanese cars get whats advertised. I'm not sure if he was being sarcastic or not, but it seems they tend to hide the problems with the non American cars. Oh ya..they will report on recalls like with toyota....but when its an American car, they seem to jump all over it like they are trying to get people to not buy them. Maybe its just my imagination, but it sure seems that way to me. By the way....on days that I don't have to use heat, I average better than the 47mpg. On days that I do use heat, I'm still up around 43 or 44.

If you mean me by "that guy" I have nothing to prove, I was just trying to help Nmadole. What I say I get in milage is what I get. If you don't believe me, than I'm sorry. So....whatever. I'll try to mind my own business from now on and not try to help people.
-
Well...then maybe you are right...maybe there is something wrong with the car. I would get it checked.
-
Nmadole...with all due respect, I understand what you are saying, but just humor me for a minute. I drive 30 miles one way each day to work and back. I average between 45-52 mpg. Today, I got 49.5. I drive pretty normal, I keep up with traffic, and I don't hesitate to go 65 or 70 mph if the traffic is moving well. But whenever I can I back off on the gas and let the EV kick in, and use it to maintain speed. Yes....it is doing something extra that I normally wouldn't do in a regular car. But this isn't a regular car. It is designed differently, and I believe that it has to be driven differently. With just a little bit of effort you could increase your milage by 10mpg. And I'm talking very little....its not like you have to change your whole way of driving. Again...I don't want to get into a pi**ing match with you, but I just ask that you open your mind a little and give it a try. If not...ok then. I hope you like the car anyway. I have the Fusion Hybrid and the C-Max hybrid and I love them both.

I think I found the answer to my own question. It has something to do with the door locks. I think it prevents someone from reaching in or using some sort of device to press the unlock door button when the car was locked from the remote FOB. If it is set to off, then if someone could get something in the window they could press the unlock button and the doors will unlock, when on, this button is disabled when locked remotely. Is this correct? If not...can someone explain to me what it is?

Can anyone tell me what Switch Inhibit is, and what it does when you set it to on? I found one place in the manual that refers to it, and that is only telling you how to turn it on and off. I can't find anywhere in the manual where it explains what it is.

A lot of good suggestions. I've made some of the same suggestions here and on the C-Max Forum. Most of the responses have been that "its too much trouble" or "I shouldn't have to drive the car special to achieve the advertised gas milage". Its typical, people expect it to be exactly as advertised without any effort on their part. In my way of thinking common sense tells me that it just doesn't work that way.

I've owned a lot of new cars in my lifetime.....so I'm not easily impressed. But I have to say...seeing this car in person really impressed me. We picked it up last night...and it is one pretty car. I'll get some pics posted by the weekend.
