  1. And it will be assembled in the same industrial complex that built most of the B-25s in WWII. GM's Fisher Body division built the outer wing panels for most of the North American Aviation bombers made in Kansas City. Capitalism is great. We rarely have to settle for something that is just good enough. It usually keeps pressure on manufactures to constantly improve. The B-25 in this photo was built in Inglewood, CA.
  2. This is still the most realistic R/C flight I have ever seen. The secret is the helium filled fuselage. The second link gives details of the Airbus 310. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=894479703930579 http://www.rcmania.hk/article-813-1.html
  3. A 1400 mile round trip that I took in December resulted in 43.2 mpg at an average speed of 68 mph. The majority of the time I was above 70 mph. If I know I'm approaching a downgrade, I try to drive so that the battery is near its lowest level before the descent.
  4. How can the author of this look at the data and state "the Fusion Hybrid is struggling"?
  5. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1097103_ford-may-show-a-200-mile-electric-car-this-year-to-counter-chevy-bolt A wagon version of the Fusion would have enough room for the batteries to do this (maybe).
  6. Even when I'm 85, you won't ever see me voluntarily driving at 55-60 mph. EV works great for the 68-72 mph range that I drive, with an occasional 80 mph to pull ahead of a covey of cars. 42.9 mpg makes me very happy. =
  7. Even though theory says differently, I'm still convinced that the software update that increased the EV speed from 62 to 85 mph is the primary reason my mileage saw a 6 mpg increase. This may be due to my particular driving environment, but I get my best mileage on my daily commutes when my EV times on the freeway are the greatest.
  8. "Nice to see that you can pick yourself between Eco or Comfort as far as the heating goes." It appears that if you choose EcoSlect driving mode to tone down the heating, you'll also have to put up with more gradual acceleration, so that would never be an option I would use. For me, it is a safety and courtesy issue. The current performance of the FFH is just the way I like it.
  9. This is what the Fusion should have for 2017. http://autoweek.com/article/geneva-motor-show/kia-sportspace-concept-unveiled-ahead-geneva-motor-show
  10. http://www.hybridcars.com/january-2015-dashboard/ Lower gas prices are affecting hybrid sales.
  11. Didn't we decide a while back that this is actually the new Taurus and not the Fusion? The article is from August.
  12. From AutoWeek: http://autoweek.com/article/car-reviews/2014-kia-optima-hybrid-ex-review-notes Wonky steering and sluggish acceleration is their bottom line.
  13. I forget which hybrid a recent article was reviewing, but they mentioned it didn't have the creep mode, which made it very difficult to maneuver in parking lots.
  14. Fusion beats the Camry again. http://www.hybridcars.com/november-2014-dashboard/
  15. We do have almost perfect weather here on the Central Coast of California, so I'm sure that helps skew my MPGs upward. 40 degree differences between the high and lows during the day are common, with the fan running without A/C the norm. We were at 39 this morning with a high of 74. Having my FFH in a garage at night also helps the mileage. This is our latest aviation project: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronautix_Triton
  16. Now this would be a great addition for the 2016 FFH. Check the video out at 3:30 min.
  17. See this for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronautix_Triton
  18. This is a shot from last weekend's Aviation Expo. This is the model that was in my FFH's trunk.
  19. I have now had my FFH for two full years, with a total of 23K miles. Since my one year report, I have changed the oil and rotated the tires once. That's it. Nothing else had to be done, except to wash it every two months (White Platinum is great!). My lifetime MPG is now at 42.5, with the Engage reading being 42.9 mpg. This should flip to 43.0 this month since for the last 3000 miles, I have averaged 44.3 mpg. I consider this great since 80% of the miles are at 65-75 mph. My lifetime brake score sits at 96%. No other car purchase could have made me happier. It has also led me to meet several great people from this Forum.
  20. https://adblockplus.org/ eliminated the pop-ups on IE for me. I just did it for Chrome in less than a minute. With it being so easy, there is no reason for anyone to leave the forum. One "problem" is that it eliminates all ads. I can see why the owners of forums don't promote it. It can put them out of business. I also don't mind the ads on the top, so this forum needs to eliminate the pop-ups before everyone gets adblock.
  21. I'm working on a one piece 51" wingspan version of my Triton. I needed to take it somewhere and thought I'd have to use my wife's RX330, but I didn't have to use the extra gas. It fit perfectly in the FFH since it has the fold down rear seats. I don't think this could have been done in any of the FFH's sedan competitors.
  22. I wouldn't even consider buying the current model. I really don't like its looks. The new 2016 model (here in the US) will be a big improvement. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1094471_updated-ford-c-max-european-models-unveiled-for-paris-motor-show
  23. Midsize Sedan August Sales: Accord 51,075 Camry 44,043 Altima 32,153 Fusion 29,452 Sonata 21,092 Malibu 16,346 Optima 15,337 200 10,810 Passat 9190 Legacy 5987 Mazda6 5631 Avenger 2905 This is the best August ever for Fusion sales, but it still puts it in 4th place.
  24. I'm probably jinxing myself for saying this, but I've gone for over 20 years without a front California plate on three vehicles. For 9 years my Pacifica did have a B-25 photo plate up front. My wife has gone over 16 years without a front plate. We've never been confronted by anyone about it. I know we've been very lucky. I attribute it to not looking threatening, and no tickets in California for 30 years. I have been pulled over and was given three warnings about speeding. It helps, I think, having a beautiful women as a passenger. My wife says the warnings were an act of God. It's also nice not worrying about traffic cameras.
  25. Interesting article http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2014/08/21/can-ford-next-hybrid-beat-prius/
