The thing with a hybrid car is it is NOT and electric car. It's just a regular car with an energy storage device to capture otherwise wasted energy. Search around here for plenty of tips on how to drive it in the most efficient way, but hint - cruising along in electric mode isn't usually the most efficient way. As mentioned above, the car is trying to keep the battery at around 50% and you should to when you're driving. Use the gas engine to accelerate, but coast as much as you can and avoid using the brakes as much as possible. When you do use the brakes, try to avoid using the "real" brakes, you'll know you're doing it right when you get good brake coach scores.
