There have been several threads documenting FFH eCVT failures requiring the installation of a new transmission.  Several forum members have understandably expressed concerns and posed questions about their being an underlying problem with our eCVTs that is causing these failures. I have the impression that these failures have been occurring at a relatively low number of miles but that impression could be wrong.

I was thinking with this thread forum members could jump in and tell us how many miles they currently have on their FFH and if they have had any concerns or problems with their eCVT’s reliability/longevity. If nothing else, forum members with high mileage on their eCVTs may be reassuring to the rest of us.

I currently have about 8000 miles on my 2015 and so far no hints of abnormal noises or problems.

I was thinking of starting a similar topic.  "Who has high miles on your FFH" and what repairs have been needed after the original Ford warranty ended?

I have 73K on my 2010 and no problems.  I purchased it recently with 70K but the CarFax report showed no major repairs.

It'll be interested to see who has the highest miles.

I have about 9100 miles on my '14 MKZ-h and no indication of a problem. I would suspect mine would be more susceptible since I make relatively many trips through a 3000 foot elevation change when going to Las Vegas. I'm sure driving up the pass puts quite a strain on the e-CVT as the rpms get into the 5000+ range.

Climbing should not  a strain. We suspect the problem is coasting down a long hill where the ICE doesn't run for many minutes thereby reducing the lubrication of the transmission which only circulates fluid when the ICE is on. Goose the pedal or select low briefly to get the ICE to run for a few seconds during the long downhills until the problem is resolved.

2014 FFH, built 11/25/13, purchased 7/3/14, currently 5900 miles with no indication of problems. Drive flat routes 95% of the time, maybe even a little higher.

Or engage the standard Grade Assist?

That should work too since it spins the ICE, even if just as an air compressor.

My job 1 2013 now has just over 39,000 miles and so far no hint of a transmission problem.

Whats interesting is it was 19000 this morning too, so the 25 ev miles from the trip home weren't added.  Strange.

I believe Rob has a 2013. Didn't he also need to have his eCVT replaced once under warranty?

The 2004-12 eCVTs were made by Aisin. The 2013+ are made by Ford.
