Inflatable Seatbelts - Can the dealer install them on a non-equipped car?

Recommended Posts

Greetings folks,

I was at the local dealer over the weekend, and I'm ready to pull the trigger. With all said and done, it looks like I'm going to be able to swing an SE with the 502a package, nav, rear camera, etc. I would really like to have the inflatable rear seatbelts but none of the cars I'm looking at have them. Can the dealer install them for me or is that a factory installation. While I'm at it, since I'll be getting the 502a package, it shows 18" wheels as being an option. Can I have the dealer install the larger wheels as well (for the price of that option of course)? Thanks. All of these thoughts occurred to me after we went home, so I didn't think to ask while there. Thanks.

The inflatable seat belts can't be added by the dealer. Those are factory installed only, due to the required wiring, modules, sensors, etc. The dealer can put any wheels you want on the car... for a price. They will not usually swap out lower valued options from one car to another. The price you see on the sticker for an option rarely reflects the actual cost of said option. If you want the larger wheels, you will have to pay for them... and they are NOT cheap. Your best bet would be to find some take-offs on Ebay, or some from a wrecking yard. Good luck! :)

Thanks guys. Tomorrow I'll be picking up my new Ice Storm SE, with 502A pkg, Nav & rear camera, using the "family member is a Ford factory worker plan".

I've been visiting this forum for almost a year. I've gone from getting the SE, to the Titanium, to the Energi SE, & the Energi Titanium. But now when it's time to make the move, I'm able to afford the SE. Special thanks to Hybrid Bear for your personal advice on various topics.

Starting tomorrow, I'll be looking more closely at the mileage posts and tips.

Pete
