Trust me I understand. And I'm sure it's now your fault that her new Pilot doesn't have a keypad. I don't know if Ford has a patent that prevents others from doing it but it does seem odd that nobody else has anything similar.

 

Allen, the Nissan Maxima had a door keypad from 1985 to the early 90s. They called it "Digital Touch Entry System." It was on both front doors to boot. So, there is a history of other mfrs. using one. They probably dropped it because RKE came into vogue about then.
