hybridbear Report post Posted March 9, 2015 They had one of these at the Twin Cities Auto Show which was on the floor but locked. It looks great!
machoman1337 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) I'd buy an Edge if there were a hybrid available. Been in a rental Edge and enjoyed it - it's a nice and comfortable SUV. Come on Ford, release something to compete with the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX! acdii Report post Posted March 9, 2015 My Freestyle would have made a good Hybrid, its halfway there with the CVT. The Flex would be a good option too since its a 7 passenger like the Highlander.
corncobs Report post Posted March 10, 2015 I keep saying Ford please make it plugin for all short errands around town with the kids. It's always preconditioned you not wasting fuel while waiting in the drop off line for me this would be win win win. Take the some patents from Tesla and sandwich the batteries under the floor that would be the ultimate. I personally believe there's something cooking already. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted March 10, 2015 I personally believe there's something cooking already.I hope so. No one has brought an affordable plug-in SUV to the USA yet. Volvo & BMW are planning to soon release PHEV SUVs but they'll cost a lot. Mitsubishi has been making a PHEV Outlander for years, but they only sell it in Asia & Europe because they say they can't get enough parts to meet demand there and thus they can't sell it in the USA when demand is so high overseas. If Ford came out with an Edge PHEV which got 20 miles of EV range (like the Fusion/C-Max Energi) and maybe 30-35 MPG in hybrid mode I think they'd have a hit! The key would be to keep the price premium to only about $1-2k more than the gas Edge after the tax credit. Since the Edge battery would have to be larger than a C-Max/Fusion Energi battery to get the same range it would require more kWh of capacity which would increase the tax credit since it's based on kWh of capacity.
