Lower gas prices are affecting hybrid sales.

When they go back up, there will be a lot of new used trucks and SUV's on the market. People will never learn.

But sales of EVs aren't hurt by low gas prices. I think hybrid sales will decline. Many of the early hybrid owners have now moved on to EVs & PHEVs while the overall consumer market has not warmed to hybrids yet.

Fleet sales though will continue to climb in the Hybrid market. Eventually all taxi's will be hybrids, only the few that use vans would still be regular ICE since the Escape is no longer a Hybrid, and the Cmax lacks the room the Escape had. In Chicago, if you count the taxi's I would say at least 80% are Camry Hybrids and Prius.

Until the sizes of the affordable EV vehicles are increased and put into a sedan form, and the EV ranges are dramatically increased, and the batteries can be charged much quicker on 110V outlets, and the electricity is generated in a much more cleaner fashion overall, I am a die-hard hybrid fan, and in particular an FFH fan. :victory:

And since I only replace my car every 10 years, I figure my next car could very likely be a fuel cell car, as long as the hydrogen is being produced cleanly. ;)

When output of Hydrogen is equal to or greater than the cost to produce it, then hydrogen cars will be a viable solution. Still takes a bit of electricity to crack water into hydrogen.
