MRT T-5 FUSION HOOD

Recommended Posts

Here is the latest addition to my AWD '07 Fusion..

MRT (Mustang Racing Technologies) has started to make some components for the Ford Fusion with the first offering being a new dual intake hood designed for the Fusion platform (non-fuctional directing to air filter but does allow outside air to enter the hood)

I just got mine back from the body shop today and installed on the car this afternoon. I requested my paint shop to do Oxford white with the intake 'pockets' painted flat-black and below is the result...

WOW WOW WOW! That shot angle, with the car just slightly off center, of the hood just makes it look MEAN! WWWWWWWOOOOOWWWWW! Just get rid of that little chrome piece on the bumper and have a full white front end (looks like you put it in where a front plate was mounted?). Can anyone photoshop that piece off and add the background to blur like the car is in motion!??! :camera:

It was actually a fairly easy swap. All existing hardware (i.e. windshield washer nozzles, hood latch, hood rubber seals) attaches to the new hood. The new hood also came with pre-routed hosing for the windshield wiper spray nozzles so underneath is kept very clean as the wiper hoses are hidden between the two halves (upper and lower) of the hood. The body/paint shop does alot of aftermarket work and commented it was one of the highest quality aftermarket hoods they have seen. It also has a factory style molded pocket for the original prop-rod.

Fortunately I live were a front tag isn't required; Unfortunately the dealer had to get the car from another state as he didn't have one the way I wanted it optioned. Therefore the tag bracket holes were already on the car when I took delivery and this was a better alternative than riding around with the holes in the bumper or trying to cover them with plastic caps. That will probably get changed in the near future when I think of something better but for now I am open to any ideas. I may wait until I get more rock chips in the front fascia and have the holes filled in and repaint the entire front fascia. :banghead:

Here is a better 'angle' shot....

When you gonna try that Bullitt fuel door mod I suggested?

That might put me in the 'ricer' category if I do that. :waiting:

I'm serious. I think it would look good. You already have the metal details on your door handles and windows. The Bullitt door is brushed aluminum though, so it would look a little different. I'd just like to see someone who's going all the way with their Fusion try that out. Seems to me it would get a lot of looks/inquiries.

That looks super clean. Didn't you have gas struts for the hood?

I'm really liking it. I wonder why Ford can't offer this from the factory?

You may recall some news of late regarding Ford's Titanic-like financial situation. I don't think the money's there for special hoods on a mass market family sedan.
