RatBoy Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Hi! Took my 2012 Edge to the dealership for some PM, left with a 2014 FFH instead. First Fusion, though I've driven several. Second hybrid - before the Edge I had an '08 Tahoe hybrid. Glad to meet everyone!
md13ffhguy Report post Posted November 2, 2014 Impulse buy? If so, I think that was a pretty good impulse! Drive gently and you'll get some great MPGs. Looking forward to hearing more about your experience. Enjoy!

RatBoy Report post Posted November 3, 2014 Thanks, gents! Yes, I suppose you'd call it an impulse buy. Although gas prices are dropping, they may not stay that way, and I'd been thinking off and on what might provide something better than the 21mpg I was getting with the Edge. Saw this on the showroom floor, pondered it for a half hour or so, talked with a salesguy, made the deal. Am guessing I left a few dollars on the table, but so be it. It was still nicely discounted and met my requirements and budget. Got 46.5mpg (or so the car tells me!) on the 15-mile drive home. Being an S, few bells and whistles, but the only ones I'll miss (Edge was a Limited) are the driver aids - rear camera and monitor, cross traffic warnings. I'll adapt! acdii Report post Posted November 3, 2014 I did something like that once. Had a 2001 F150 with 35K on it, brought it in for one last batch of warranty work, saw a 99 F350 Dually Diesel on the lot, and wound up driving that one home. Kind of the opposite, newer for older, but went from 13 MPG to 20 MPG. Diesel was also much less expensive than gas was back then. Not the same now! I do miss that truck, but not the cost to fill a 35 gallon tank every week. Funny thing is, when I first got it, before fuel prices went up, I could fill that for what it costs to fill my HyTi! RatBoy Report post Posted November 4, 2014 OK... Took the spare key and owner's manual for the Edge to the dealer this morning. It's actually seventeen miles, and the car told me it got 42.2 mpg. drove it back to the grocery store near my home. 16.5 miles, 51.6 mpg. For the 2.3 mile trip home, it said it got 58.3 mpg. Guess I'll have to put buckets under it overnight to catch all of the extra fuel that'll start pouring out of the tank LOL!!! 5 GrySql, hybridbear, gkinla and 2 others reacted to this
