Yes, it works fine. I got it this summer and took a trip to Canada. There was an issue for about 5 miles on the interstate in Canada, but it has worked fine ever since. There are others here who also have bought the A5 off of ebay.

Yes I am one who also bought one - but as I noted in other threads, I don't think the maps were updated much (if at all) based on some roads around me that were renumbered two years ago and still were not updated on the A5.

My house was built in 1957. Neither A4 or A5 put it in the correct location. The online map at here.com, which is supposed to be the basis for the car map, has it correct so it appears that the car map is very out of date.

That is a very odd letter...

That A5 card has been available since last May (2014) when many of us started buying them from Ebay.

The same Seller I bought from still has them for $49+.

We got two letters yesterday! One with an official looking Ford heading, one with an official looking Lincoln heading. Distracted driving? Really? That's their selling point for this overpriced "update"? These letters came from the official Ford/Lincoln authorized navigation people at http://www.navigation.com. We do not plan to update our maps any time soon. I suppose those that do a lot of traveling may want updated maps, but since neither of us like to travel, we don't need this update. Especially for 150 bucks, free shipping or not! :)

Is it possible to copy the map on to another chip? I have 2 cars with the A4 version. I guess I could just put the new one in the car I'm traveling in like my EZ Pass, but it seem it would be a pain after a while.

 

I'm sure not buying 2 of them, but for 2 car updates $150 wouldn't hurt as much.

Not surprised at the price from the dealer. I quoted tires, they want $192 for the PureContacts, while Walmart has them for $172. $80 is $80.

The dealer doesn't set the price, it's set between Ford and Here (Navteq). The ones on ebay are not legitimate, though that doesn't mean they don't work.

Ford needs to get their act together. My $200 Garmin gets four map updates a year and they are all FREE. $150 for an outdated map is ridiculous. My house was built in 1957 and is in the middle of the block but the Ford map puts it at the end of the block. The map on the Here website places it correctly. The map on the card is not based on the map that is on the website.

Have you tried to "report" that to anybody yet ?

I'd be REALLY interested if you find a way to do that.

Just search "Ford A5 Navigation SD Card" on eBay. There are alternatives. Not endorsing any in particular, but I saw several options in the $50-$60 range.

 

Personally, I'm OK with the A4 card that came with my car, since I'm not convinced the A5 offers me anything more that I need.

Well you won't know until there is a problem.

 

For instance, a POI search for Sea World near Orlando produced one listing.......which navigates you to the center of the Orlando airport !!!!

 

Now, after that I searched for Seaworld (one word) and I think the result was correct.

Unless it fixed POI on the right display, not worth it. Besides, I always take my TomTom as backup when I travel out of state.
