GrySql Report post Posted October 9, 2014 SSM 44401 - Hybrid Energi - Oil Maintenance Mode Some 2013-2014 C-MAX and Fusion Energi vehicles may display "oil Maintenance" on the message center, which should not be confused with the oil change monitor. When in this mode the gas engine will run continuously and electric-only operation is not available. This feature maintains oil quality by removing fuel and water from the oil that can accumulate when the vehicle is used primarily for shorttrips and thus not running the engine at normal operating temperature for adequate time. To complete and exit the oil maintenance cycle, the gas engine must beoperated continuously at adequate temperature to remove moisture. A drive of approximately 15 minutes is normally required, however additional drive time may be needed in very cold temperatures. Refer to the Owner Guide for additional details. GrySql Report post Posted October 9, 2014 SSM 44381 - 2011-2014 - Gasoline Vehicles - Updated PC/ED Diagnostics to Address P013A or P013C Pin Point Test (PPT) DW in the Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostic (PC/ED) manual has recently been updated to reflect improved exhaust leak detection. Some2011 - 2014 vehicles may exhibit a Malfunction Indicator Lamp illuminated with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P013A or P013C stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). These DTC's are typically caused by very small exhaust leaks in close proximity to the Catalyst Monitor Sensors and/or further upstream. Leaks in the exhaust system will change the expected oxygen content readings to the PCM under certain conditions. Do not replace downstream Catalyst Monitor Sensors beforeperforming the updated PPT diagnostics.
GrySql Report post Posted October 9, 2014 SSM 44340 - 2013-2014 ESCAPE, FUSION, And MKZ Vehicles - Orange Engine Coolant May Under Certain Conditions Appear Green 2013-2014 Escape, Fusion, and MKZ vehicles - orange engine coolant may under certain conditions appear green. The orange engine coolant's dye package has been modified slightly to improve leak check capability using black light. As a result of the dye change, the coolant can appear green under certain conditions such as low light and against a dark background (e.g., inside a radiator with black end tanks). However, the coolant is still the same coolant performance-wise. No service action is required due to this change nor should the cooling system be flushed. GrySql Report post Posted October 9, 2014 SSM 44328 - SOME VEHICLES COULD EXHIBIT MISFIRE CODES AFTER CERTAIN REPAIRS - MULTIPLE VEHICLE LINES Some vehicles equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) misfire monitor neutral profile learning capabilities may experience the MIL illuminating or flashing, accompanied by one or more engine misfire related codes(P030X). These faults can be a result of the crankshaft position sensor profile (MP_LRN) not being relearned after certain engine and transmission repairs have been performed. The MP_LRNdata is no longer cleared with a KAM reset or battery disconnect. Repairs that can require relearning of the MP_LRN data with IDS include: crank sensor, trigger wheel, engine timing, crank pulley and any time the engine or transmission (including DPS6) is removed for service. From the IDS toolbox select "powertrain", then "service functions", then Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction" and follow the on screen prompts.
