Looks like I'll be finished with this site from this computer. Good luck and thanks for all your help guys. I love that it pops up and blocks the post button as I type this, man what garbage, as if this site isn't slow enough. C'mon Mods. The mods don't have any control over how the site is run. For that you need to contact the account labeled "staff".

hybridbear Report post Posted October 6, 2014 I just recently installed AdBlock Plus on my Windows computer with IE and it has been hit & miss so far with blocking ads. Like others I didn't mind the ads before because I know that the site owners need to finance site operations somehow, but the pop-up ads have gone too far. They're especially problematic on the iPad where they block the text of the posts. Hopefully Robert will give us an answer soon about that issue. Easy Rider Report post Posted October 6, 2014 The Adblock for for iPad and iPhone is a separate browser. And just as a reference, I have your posts blocked so I do not see them because of our previous interaction. I mistakenly click on the view a block post link. And you will probably miss this too but the point IS....................Why do you not use the AdBlocker browser for ALL of your net surfing ???? Keep telling me that you have my posts on ignore.......and I will keep telling you that I don't care.
storksb Report post Posted October 7, 2014 Well it looks like these pop up ads are here to stay so this is farewell. Some good information here but these ads are so intrusive and annoying, that I no longer enjoy the experience. Thanks to all for the knowledge that has been shared. GrySql Report post Posted October 7, 2014 We have been told that this Forum will be moving to a new, faster Server at the end of the month. These Ad's should diminish at that time. That is all we presently know.

SteveB_TX Report post Posted October 7, 2014 I'm sorry, what did you say? I can't read your post because of this huge stupid ad covering your entire post on my iPad! Okay, now I can see it. Check back in from time to time to see what is up. If enough of us complain about these obnoxious pop ups, perhaps the forum owner will get the message! It is just as bad on the MKZ forums, so this forum is not the only one effected. Omg. I can't even see what I am typing because of this stupid pops up! 1 hybridbear reacted to this

I don't blame Robert though as the ads help pay for the site(s). I don't allow them.

B25Nut Report post Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) https://adblockplus.org/ eliminated the pop-ups on IE for me. I just did it for Chrome in less than a minute. With it being so easy, there is no reason for anyone to leave the forum. One "problem" is that it eliminates all ads. I can see why the owners of forums don't promote it. It can put them out of business. I also don't mind the ads on the top, so this forum needs to eliminate the pop-ups before everyone gets adblock. SteveB_TX Report post Posted October 8, 2014 The main problem is on the iPad. Show me how to block the darn things on the iPad and I will be a happier camper! :) 1 hybridbear reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted October 9, 2014 The main problem is on the iPad. Show me how to block the darn things on the iPad and I will be a happier camper! :)The best way to block Ads on my iPad is to use the 'Atomic Web Browser'.Atomic Web Browser for the iPad has Ad Blocking that works, find it in the App Store. The browser is full featured, fast and has options for using a Search Engine like DuckDuckGo that does not track you, like Google.Install the Atomic Web Browser>Settings>Ad block>On and all these video web ad's are gone - on my iPad.Click on the Gear icon on the browser heading to find Settings. Try it.

DeeCee Report post Posted October 10, 2014 I use AdBlock Plus on my desktop with Firefox and do not see the ads. I recently bought a Surface Pro with IE 11 and tried it with this site and the constant pop up ads were quite an annoyance. Will have to find an ad blocker for that system. gkinla Report post Posted October 10, 2014 So, did anyone try Atomic Web Browser and block the Ad's? I installed the full Atomic Web Browser and the Ad's still show up, usually right over where you want to type. Very annoying. I did check the settings and the Atomic Ad Blocker is checked on. I did check the settings and the Atomic Ad Blocker is checked on.That is different than my iPad, I looked just now and not an Ad to be seen. I have no explanation, stumped. md13ffhguy Report post Posted October 11, 2014 90% of the time, I visit this site thru my phone and the default Chrome browser. I've never had a single problem with ads. For my occasional pc visits, I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus. No problems there either. Makes me wonder if there's not some sort of malware issue that people have picked up either here, but possibly elsewhere...
JimArch Report post Posted October 12, 2014 On the iPad, the ads always say "you may be interested in, xxxxxxx, download now". Seems like scrolling triggers the ads to appear, they then display for a few seconds, then fade, soon as you scroll, they reappear.
SteveB_TX Report post Posted October 12, 2014 It looks like the Atomic Web browser LITE does not have the ad blocking capabilities of the paid version. Oh well. On the iPad, the ads always say "you may be interested in, xxxxxxx, download now". Seems like scrolling triggers the ads to appear, they then display for a few seconds, then fade, soon as you scroll, they reappear. And the stupid things always pop-up over the post you are trying to read. Very irritating. :zombi: 1 Sleddog reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted October 12, 2014 It looks like the Atomic Web browser LITE does not have the ad blocking capabilities of the paid version. Oh well. You are correct, I'd forgotten that when I got AWB long ago it was a free intro offer, but the 'full' version.I never used it but re-installed it just to see what would happen, being the 'paid' version it works well.Sorry for the misinformation.
