Erasing Factory Codes

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang,

Have had some trouble lately with access to my car. Need to know if there is a way to erase the factory code for the keyless entry. Or if I can turn this function off altogether. Note, setting a personal code does not erase the factory code.

Thanks

cj

If possible at all I can only imagine that the dealer could do it. Problem is that the factory code is placed onto stickers somewhere in the car.

What's the issue why do wanna delete the factory code if I might ask?

Thanks friend,

Just need to clear access to the car. Figured if it could be done than, even having the codes on the car, which I have, would no longer work and thus only a personal code would work

Page 59 of the Owners Manual states that only a Dealer can reprogram the entry codes.

Only the dealer can pull up the factory access code with their IDS system. No other scanners / diag tools can do this. They can only pull up the factory assigned code and can not change it. From my understanding this code is no where on the vehicle and is only printed on the access key code cards that came with the car. You can not order or get these cards from a dealer.

There is a procedure in the owner's manual to get the code. In the 2013 it displays the digits in reverse order. I don't know about later years.

I can also get the code using my OBD II scanner and the Forscan software.

When playing around on MFT the other day, I saw an option to change the door lock code (under vehicle settings I think). I touched it to see where it would go and it asked me to enter the current code. I didn't do it so I don't know if it would erase the old one or not. So, if you have the current code you don't need a dealer to change it. Just my 2¢.

You can't delete the code that was assigned to the car during manufacture. You can add multiple codes of your own choosing but the original code will always work.
