So what ever happened to that App Link / Car Play update?

So Ford said that cars with Sync and My Ford Touch were going to get an update to allow them to use App Link. I really don't understand the logic behind regular Sync (non MFT) cars having App Link, but MFT ones not, but either way...

 

What ever happened to that update? I guess they scrapped it and we are all just waiting for the QNX based system for use with App Link and Android Auto?

I don't think an AppLink promise has ever been made for MFT. I also don't think that current MFT-equipped vehicles will be upgraded to whatever next-generation system comes about. JMO.

The press release I read stated: "Currently, Sync AppLink is not compatible with MyFord Touch, Ford's infotainment system. A Ford spokesperson confirmed to CNET that the upgrade would still not be compatible with MyFord Touch-equipped cars."

On the other hand, it certainly doesn't seem unreasonable!! Seriously, Ford, give us MFT owners a few basic apps! We paid a lot for this "upgrade."

Yeah I want Nav without MFT so I can have Applink like I did in my 2012 F150!
