jsvoaks Report post Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) I have a 2012 Fusion Hybrid with about 65,000 miles on it. very happy with it overal. For about the past month, however, I've been hearing a chime that I cannot identify the reason for. It's driving me nuts. There is no warning message or light that I can see, and there seems to be no ryme or reason for the chiming. It's a series of 2 tones that repeat about 3 or 4 times in quick succession. It seems to me I hear it most oftem when accelerating, and usually within a few minutes of starting to drive after being parked. I've had the car serviced as required. I believe the chiming began shorty after I had new tires put on. Appreciate any insight anyone has on this. Thanks JSV Edited July 2, 2014 by jsvoaks
GrySql Report post Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Just a wild guess here. Both my Fords have a Parking Brake chime mentioned in the Owner's Manual. It doesn't state the chime frequency rate. You might take the car back to the tire shop and have them look at your Parking Brake system. Easy Rider Report post Posted July 2, 2014 Good idea.If he never uses the parking brake, activating and releasing it a few times might yield some valuable clues. 1 Ryan Goodlett reacted to this
Ryan Goodlett Report post Posted July 2, 2014 The parking brake sounds like a possible cause. If it is engaged just a hair the chime could go off but with out a light. The switch could be right on the fringe of engaging.
Sleddog Report post Posted July 2, 2014 Perhaps a door sensor is malfunctioning. Thinking it's open when it's not.
Easy Rider Report post Posted July 2, 2014 Perhaps a door sensor is malfunctioning. Thinking it's open when it's not.I think each door has only one sensor. It it is tripped enough to make the chime, it also should light the warning on the dash. Outside chance that a warning light on the dash is not working.
