Add Intelligent Access with Push Button Start After Purchase?

Recommended Posts

Newbie...so be nice. Just got 2014 Ford Fusion SE Hybrid, Sunset. Is Intelligent Access with Push Button Start available to be added after purchase? Didn't think to ask the dealership. I have the 502A package with My Ford Touch Tech Package, Just thought I'd ask.

Yeah, this isn't the sort of thing that can be added aftermarket (at least not easily) since new wiring would need to be installed in quite a few places.

I got mine preowned so I didn't even get to choose but it's really not a bother.

I actually found that the intelligent key was a hindrance in one case - I went downtown with my dad once in his Lexus and he parked on the street to run an errand. He didn't want to pay for parking (he didn't expect to be there for over 15 min) so he told me to get into the driver's seat and if the parking guard came by, then drive off and make a loop around. Of course, the Lexus had an intelligent key and my dad forgot to pass it to me as it was in his pocket! And as luck would have it, the parking authority came by and I couldn't start the car, so I had to bite the bullet and pay for an hour's worth of parking to avoid a ticket. To add insult to injury my dad came out just 4 minutes later... All this would've been less likely to happen if there was a regular key since it could've been left in the ignition for me to grab.

Very petty and rare incident but it made me feel less "inadequate" about lacking an intelligent key :D

Also forgetting the key at home when your passenger has one, then dropping off said passenger and ignoring the warning horn and driving off can lead to some unpleasant words later on. Don't ask me how I know this.
