Haunted MLT

Hey y'all. Something strange and unusual just happened that has me dazed and confused! :) I was just out in the garage and decided to clean and condition the drivers seat in the Z, and dust the console and dash. That done, I closed the garage door. At that moment I heard someones stereo blaring, so I opened back up the garage door to see who was making all that racket. Hmmm. Nothing. Then it dawned on me... the sound was coming from the Z. What? When I opened the drivers door, there was the MLT playing some really loud music, looking the same as it does with the car "running". What!? I did not have the car keys on me. I had to go grab the keys and start/stop the car to get the MLT to shut off. I have never seen/heard of this haunting glitch before. :zombi:

My 2002 focus would allow you to turn on the radio without any keys around. Was great for doing a car wash or working outside. Not sure if that's an intended feature on the MLT or not.

All 3 Saabs that I had worked this way as well. I've tried this in the FFH and have found that it does not allow you to turn on the radio with the car off.

I can turn the radio (MFT) on when our FFH is turned off. It is great when detailing the inside of the car.

Does the Z have the touch sensitive buttons? I did that in my T once when I wiped down the dash, scared the crap out of me since there is a delay from when you turn it on until it starts to play.

My FFH will turn the radio on without the key too, just push the radio button and the MFT turns on and the radio will play, fancy that.

Yup. Of course, using the term buttons is a stretch! :)

Well damn! I never knew these cars did that, even after 13 months of ownership. Who knew a little dust rag could cause such a ruckus! :)

I've used dusters on my home radios in the past. Sometimes when dusting the radios, the display would sometimes turn on or flicker. I always thought it was related to static electricity caused by the duster. Your radio could be acting the same way.
