2015 Early Ordering

Recommended Posts

I've read through some of the other threads, but wanted to hear from the experience of all you. Total new member post, I know...

I've been looking at the 2014 Hybrid SE, but none of the local dealers have the exact color/options I am looking for. I have had a dealer look at their extended inventory options (essentially they get it from a different dealer), still nothing. I looked at all locations within a 300 mile radius, no go. I guess I'm out of luck as to getting one from a dealer.

With the turnover to the 2015 models around the corner, I have considered just special ordering a 2015 meeting the exact specs I want. That brings up a couple questions --

1. Anyone know about what I could expect for turn around time on a special order? I have read it's usually 8-10 weeks, but will there be a backlog of special orders and make it take longer than normal? Will there be a bunch of dealer-ordered vehicles that also slow it down? Assuming I go into the dealership this week, would mid-August be a reasonable timeframe?

2. When looking for the 2014s, I had talked to the dealership that used TrueCar for their pricing. The process of negotiating a price was pretty straightforward. What would be the best way to approach a car without having the TrueCar program or knowing a specific price to compare it to?

3. I was planning on using the Ford financing for 0.9% for 60 months, but will that be possible for a special order? Will that be locked in at the time I order the vehicle or will I be subject to whatever promotion Ford is running at the time of delivery?

Thanks everyone.

A good place to start negotiations on a factory order is requesting $500 below invoice. Dealer costs are lower on orders because it isn't inventory. Getting a special order car for invoice price before any incentives from Ford is a good deal.

Incentives can be locked in at time of order, but financing can only be done at the time of delivery.

A salesman at my dealership told me that they can order 2015s now but production has not begun yet and I should expect 3-4 months for delivery. That may be an exaggeration of delivery time because he was trying to steer me to a 2014 FFH SE that was sitting on the dealership lot. I think a delivery sometime in August would be likely if you order in early June.

Thanks, bear and acdii!

Two follow up questions. Where could I see invoice costs on 2015? Any chance that Ford keeps the 0.9% going through the fall? What's a normal financing promo they run in case the 0.9% goes away...

Isn't production supposed to start in July or so?

I believe sometime second half of June is when production is suppose to begin for 2015 FFHs but I have gotten different answers on this question. I was told during an online chat session (on the Ford Fusion website) that 2015s will begin showing up on dealer lots in August and that the Ford Fusion website should be updated with 2015 information sometime in mid June.

KBB & Edmunds show invoice pricing on their sites once it's available. You can build the car with the options you want and see invoice price & MSRP for each option. I don't know if they have data for the 2015s yet. You can also ask the dealer to show you invoice price. I have no idea about financing. You can likely get a better deal outside of Ford by taking the cash back from Ford and then financing with an outside credit union or bank.

While 0.9 is tempting, even 0% is more tempting, when you look at the difference between a 3% interest rate, and the incentives you don't get when financing at 0%, taking the incentives instead of the low financing can be the better deal. If you get $2500 cash back instead of 0.9%, and finance at around 3%, the finance charges work out to be less than the incentives, so you would actually pay more at 0%. YMMV

Cars.com and edmunds have the invoice price for 2015 FFH up... Sent it to 6 local dealers (all BCC on same email) to see what they come back with

UPDATE -- We found a 14 that matched our needs. Just had to get it from a dealership 300+ miles away... Proud owner of a FFH
