Overfilling Oil

Recommended Posts

Was a post of mine deleted from this thread ?

If so......Mods.......don't you think it would be courteous and even maybe instructive to NOTIFY me of that fact ?????

Otherwise I might just think it didn't "take" and post it again.

I didn't hide any posts and I don't see any indication that acdii did.

Only if you are not capable of understanding the technique or executing it correctly. If you would like, I'll do a YouTube video to show you the technique. Perhaps that will enlighten you to what others have to offer on this forum. It may help you think outside the box. I guess batteries are more important to you than correct fluid levels. You take care of your vehicle, we'll take care of ours. There is no reason to belittle anyone because they have a different view then yours. You seem to spend a lot of time doing just that.

Buddy, take it easy, calm down, don't blow a blood vessel because your oil was overfull. Drain it to the correct level and go somewhere else next time...

I think he was worried about his engine blowing a blood vessel, so to speak -- I overfilled mine by 1/2 qt last year as I had put 5 in the 2010 FFH so many times that I was preoccupied with something else and put 5 in the 2013 FFH (did not post it here on the forum, only sent a 'whoops' email to hybridbear and acdii) , realized it after it was done but checked the dipstick and it was about 1/8" over the full line and I decided I could live with that and all was fine (but I did try to take care to not let the RPM get way too high).

But in sleddog's case he found it to be a full quart over full, which to me (and many others I think) is much more likely to cause an issue, and he spent a lot of money on the car and doesn't want it jacked up due to someone else's inattentiveness and I understand that.

I believe sled was extremely irritated by the somewhat condescending posts by he-who-shall-not-be-named. :)

Why do you assume I'm going to blow a blood vessel. Why do I need to calm down. Why are you making comments on my state of mind and health.

I guess you didn't READ the thread. The oil was changed and that's how it was determined the morons overfilled it. It again comes down to attention to detail. The point being, people just blindly assume the dealer did it right. I did not do my due diligence and check it before leaving the dealership. So, do you double check the dealer's work?

Folks, let's get off the personal stuff and stay with the subject at hand. I find comments referencing anyone's state of mind or physical health insulting. They have no place in a technical forum were the idea is to exchange information, not make personal comments.

Bilford, did you read acdii post about forum conduct?
