LEM Report post Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) At the dealership they think I'm crazy. I was driving the other day and suddenly I heardlike my car bumped into something. When I got home, I noticed that a plastic cover part was missing. This cover is under the car, and ispartially noticeable if you look at the rear left wheel. Now there is just a piece offabric hanging. On the right side, it's still there. And this is how it looks: On the left side, which is missing, looks like this: They checked some other 2014 cars and they saw that the cover is on both sides. However, they insist that my cardoesn't even have the hooks for that to be placed. I wash my car very often and I'm 99% sure that it was there. I would have noticed that hanging fabric was there before. If you guys have a 2013 FFH Titanium could you please take a look? The cover should look almost the same on both sides. On the right side, if you look under the car, it seems to cover the fuel tank, however the one on the side covers a smaller area. Thanks! acdii Report post Posted April 29, 2014 Somehow you lost part of the aerodynamic shielding underneath. I believe Waldo might know more since he lost a part not too long ago and probably is more familiar with whats under there now.
LEM Report post Posted April 29, 2014 Thanks for your reply, acdii. Based on what they told me at the dealer, my car doesn't have that. Only 2014 models.I'm almost completely sure that it was there, that's why I was hoping that somebody could check that on their cars.
GrySql Report post Posted April 30, 2014 I looked at my SE last night and it has both sides. But... The right side fender well liner is not tucked behind the protective shielding, it's just hanging in front of it. Darn it, I had it on a lift today and forgot to look closer at that part. GrySql, Thanks for checking on that. Your Fusion is from 2013? It's hard for me to believe that they can't install that on mine because it has no hooks where to attach it... Waldo Report post Posted April 30, 2014 On my car it was the right side shield that was ripped off. Fortunately I was able to recover it and it's not broken. But it is missing all of the "hooks". They're not really hooks, they are just expanding plastic screws, so all you will see is the holes where they go. But I can't imagine it being covered by warranty, it's most likely to have come off due to some kind of road debris. So if you have to pay to replace it, it's not really worth it. LEM Report post Posted April 30, 2014 LEM, Let me see how I can help. PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll look into it. Ashley Ashley, Thanks for your help. I talked to another dealership this morning, and apparently they can get that part for me and they didn't mention anything about incompatibilities.I'll let you know if they can't resolve the problem. That's very helpful information. Maybe that's why they said they couldn't find any hooks.I talked to another dealership, so let's see what they can do. I'll post any updates here. Thanks again for your help.
IraF Report post Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Left side Just tucked in material by lifting fabric and putting it inside as shown by the square in yellow Right side Could not do the same as I did on the left side so I used a fastener. Holes lined up pretty much so Lowe's 0.80c While reading this topic I checked my FFH 2013 in the rear and noticed on the left side all I had to do was tuck the material inside, but not on the right side since I could not fold the material inside so I used a fastener and it fit perfectly. LEM Report post Posted May 1, 2014 IraF, Thanks so much for taking the time to check your car, take pictures and post them. I really appreciate that. It's exactly what I need. My car is a Titanium but I don't think that should make a difference. That proves they were wrong. They just invented excuse after excuse to convince me. I'm expecting to get the part from this other dealership. Based on your pictures, they shouldn't have any problems installing it. I will post here any news. Thanks again! IraF Report post Posted May 1, 2014 Well I lived with it for slightly over a year not knowing that I may be missing a part, but i'm happy that I could tuck in the material on the left side and use a fastener on the right side so to me it's not a major problem. LEM Report post Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) I finally got it replaced. It looks good now. Dealing with both dealerships has been a nightmare. Unfriendly and rude people, total indifference, not helpful at all. I even tried with different persons but they were all the same. Only found one decent person who tried to help at the endof the process. Her name was Vicky from Ted Britt Ford Chantilly in VA. I had a Volkswagen since 2002 and never had a single problem with them. Maybe it was just good luck, but at least they cared! After this experience just hoping that nothing goes wrong in the future... I would even consider about getting another Ford in the future. Thanks everybody for their help here and for posting the pictures. Thanks to Ashley as well for offering her help. Edited May 20, 2014 by LEM
