James Sentman Report post Posted April 22, 2014 Thats when they are telling me my Fusion will arrive. I am throughly looking forward to it. I’m trading in my Mazda5 which will be rolling over 100k miles as I roll into the dealership to trade it in. The kids have outgrown their car seats and in 100k miles we used the extra row of seats in it 3 times. As great a micro-van as that 5 was, I’m completely excited to have a regular car again. 1 Ted Swing reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted April 22, 2014 Congrats! Don't get pushed into buying any extended warranties or other programs from the dealer, they're all rip-offs. James, Congrats on the new car! I'm here to help if you need anything. Looking forward to seeing some photos once you pick it up. :) Ashley
djminfll Report post Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) As great a micro-van as that 5 was, Im completely excited to have a regular car again. Did you say a "regular car"? Au contraire, the FFH IS extraordinary! LOL! Edited April 24, 2014 by djminfll 1 acdii reacted to this
James Sentman Report post Posted April 25, 2014 So it arrived a little early and I picked it up yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. :) And hark, there’s the phone ringing, it’s the local honda dealership perhaps they finally have a hybrid accord to test drive, well too late ;) I liked this better! 3 inco, acdii and corncobs reacted to this

James Sentman Report post Posted April 25, 2014 now I’m just waiting for Sirius to admit that this radio deserves a free trial period, I think they dont believe me that this is a new car or something. Very strange. Otherwise it’s going great though!
murphy Report post Posted April 25, 2014 Your dealer should have notified Sirius through their normal channel that the car has been sold. The radio should have activated without you doing anything. The radio does have to be on to receive the activation signal.
James Sentman Report post Posted April 26, 2014 ah, well perhaps I should contact the dealer about that then because something went amiss. They told me originally the radio wasn’t eligible for a free trial from the online chat people, and then after speaking on the phone they still said it wasn’t but that they would escalate to the proper people. She did activate my radio, but the account is showing a 2 month trial period right now and not the 6 that it’s supposed to come with. She sounded almost amused by me as if I was trying to convince her to put a trial on an old radio or something like that, though she never accused me of anything like that. She was quite surprised at my reading her the pamplet that came with the car that said 6 months of of free trial. I will follow up with the dealer as well as continue to call up sirius. The truth is i’m not interested in the radio part much at all, but would like to try out the traffic and weather features of the nav system through it. If they can’t sort this out I’m going to be insulted every time I see that button on the radio controls, wish you could hide it if you didn’t want it ;)
acdii Report post Posted April 26, 2014 I thought buying a used Ford or Lincoln included a 3 month trial as well, but mine wasn't, though I never used it at all with the last 2 cars. The travel information though is nice to have, but I am not going to pay for something I can get for free.
inco Report post Posted April 27, 2014 I thought all new cars came with a free trial period? Is that not correct? Mine is six months here in Canada, but I never use it and I won't extend it once the trial is up.
djminfll Report post Posted April 29, 2014 I just checked the website, and standard equipment on a new 2014 is Sirius XM radio with a complimentary 6-month subscription. http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/trim/hybrid/ You should contact the dealer and have them process activation. It will be good for six months from the date of activation. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
James Sentman Report post Posted April 29, 2014 Thanks for the verification, the pamphlet that came with mine says 6 months too. I haven’t even checked or spoken to anybody about it in the last 2 days because I’ve spent all my time getting the house we just moved out of cleaned up enough to go on the market today. So that HUGE project is all done and it only remains for my back muscles to stop complaining about all the heavy lifting ;) But I just logged into the Sirius site and they have updated my account to show the proper 6 month trial! So the lady I spoke to really did escalate the problem, or the dealership got around to calling in themselves. So what started as a frustration is now a happy thought instead. Now I just have to go driving somewhere and watch for the weather and traffic data to be useful. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Now I just have to go driving somewhere and watch for the weather and traffic data to be useful. I use the weather all the time. It's especially useful when it's raining/snowing to be able to see the radar map on the MFT screen. Fuel prices are also useful. To access weather via voice commands say: "Sirius Travel Link". MFT will then acknowledge and respond. Then say: "Show weather". Then the MFT screen will show the weather info. 1 James Sentman reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 30, 2014 When I had the trial period, the fuel prices would not show the gas stations I went to. Sort of useless at that point. They were helpful when I went to Chino though in the F150, especially going through Utah, and Nevada where cell reception was spotty and I couldnt use the Gas Buddy app.
