bonzman17 Report post Posted March 27, 2014 I've been reading a lot here trying to become a hybrid driver (really really hard for me as I have a led foot and a great radar detector). Any way it seems if you can avg 38 mpg in colder weather teens to mid 30's F you are doing well. My question is when we start getting warmer weather what can I expect to see with .75 hwy and .25 city? Is it like the normal loss of 2-3 mpg for winter mix gas and I could expect 40-41 mpg with summer gas? I am also still in the break in period. Thanks for the info. hermans Report post Posted March 27, 2014 I reset my mileage in the Summer and Winter. This Winter I'm at 40.6 MPG as it's been a really hard winter. Last Summer I averaged 45.7. Most here do not reset their mileage, but I do, as I want to gauge the real difference.
aaronj1159 Report post Posted March 31, 2014 I'm pretty close to your 75% highway estimate, though the highway I'm usually on is at 65 MPH, so it may not be exactly the same... However in the winter, I averaged just around 42-43 MPG. In the summer, 47-48. I'd say your estimate is fairly close but you might also learn some little tricks or habits along the way that'll improve your results as well. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this
Waldo Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Don't get caught up in the MPG "number", it's really a MPG "percentage" difference between summer and winter. If you improve by the same percentage in the summer as a normal car, you would expect a 4-5mpg increase and not a 2-3mpg increase. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
