Double-Tap Report post Posted February 27, 2014 I bought a 14 Fusion Titanium and I've been noticing strange noise coming from the back of the car. It seems like something is being moved around in the back. It's quite loud and it happens usually when I'm braking and turning. There's nothing in my trunk nor the back seats of my car, yet it's still making that noise and it's getting louder and louder. My extended family and myself have three 2014 fusions in total (two hybrids/one gas). Only one of the hybrids and the non-hybrid is making this noise. Is anybody else experiencing this problem and/or knows what is causing this issue?
vangonebuy Report post Posted February 27, 2014 a squirrel maybe. They struggle with hard fast turns. Is it a clunk sound or a sliding and bump sound? 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted February 27, 2014 I get a thunk in mine when I hit some hard bumps. For a while it was really annoying, but most of the noise was ice on the suspension, now I only get a thunk on really big bumps.
corncobs Report post Posted February 27, 2014 Wasn't that a topic we had with the torsion bars for the trunk lid?Didn't some people put some pipe insulation to avoid the bars touching each other.
tr7driver Report post Posted February 27, 2014 When I did my hard reset last week I discovered my LV battery wasn't in very tight. (I think the original may have been replaced) It didn't clunk, but I'm surprised it didn't.
Double-Tap Report post Posted February 28, 2014 I do not believe the torsion bars are touching each other. A full gas tank seems to exacerbate the problem. There's a significant increase in noise when the gas tank is full :(

There's a significant increase in noise when the gas tank is full :( You are able to hear the gas sloshing around in the tank when the gas tank is full, more than any other car I've been in, could this be what you're hearing? 2 hybridbear and Double-Tap reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted March 1, 2014 Have you lifted the trunk mat over the foam insert where the compressor and funnel are stored?Anything amiss in there? Everything tight? 1 Double-Tap reacted to this
Double-Tap Report post Posted March 1, 2014 You are able to hear the gas sloshing around in the tank when the gas tank is full, more than any other car I've been in, could this be what you're hearing? The noise tends to significantly reduce in sound when the gas tank is around 50%.. but I can still hear some kind of noise coming from the back. Regardless of gas level. It's just extremely loud when the gas tank is full.
Double-Tap Report post Posted March 1, 2014 Have you lifted the trunk mat over the foam insert where the compressor and funnel are stored?Anything amiss in there? Everything tight? Everything looks perfectly tight. Nothing loose or anything. If weather permits, hopefully I can go to the dealership and get this problem solved. vangonebuy Report post Posted March 2, 2014 :hysterical3: I also notice my rear is significantly noisier when my tank is full. Sometimes the top sheet metal gas tank can flex creating a popping sound. Open / Close the gas cap. See if its air locked. Or makes a change in sounds. Or a rubber exhaust hangers could be missing / broken. An ipod or anything that records sound. You can move it around the trunk and record the sound. To help track down the location.Or just rock it up and down/ side to side, while parked. See if you can set it off. acdii Report post Posted March 3, 2014 My car is clunking and thunking, and I think a lot has to do with the snow and ice it accumulated over the weekend from our 6" additional layer on Saturday.
