amanoncon Report post Posted February 26, 2014 Are there subwoofers in the Ford Fusion Hybrid 2014 Titanium with Sony sound system? If so, where are they and how large are they?
Bryan Burch Report post Posted February 26, 2014 I think there is one, you can see it through the trunk, up on the rear deck.
Riggo Report post Posted February 26, 2014 What's weird is when you go into engineering mode on the MFT screen (you can get to it by holding the CD eject button and the >>| button at the same time) and do the walk around audio test (which is under the DSP menu), it only tests 10 speakers. And, it says it has 2 subwoofers. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

It's weird because on Ford's own website it says that the Sony audio system is a 12-speaker system. http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/trim/titanium/ If you scroll down a bit on that webpage you can see. Plus, on that page it says it only has 1 subwoofer, not two. I just found it strange that the audio test says differently. Riggo Report post Posted February 28, 2014 I guess I'm the only one that thinks Ford claiming it's a 12-speaker system but the in-car audio diagnostic walk-around test only testing 10 speakers is strange.
aschulz261 Report post Posted February 28, 2014 Looking around the interior of mine, I count 12 speakers. 2 in each door1 in the center dash3 in the rear deck based on what the wiring diagram shows and what the diagnostics state, |I guess they don't treat the rear door speakers as seperates. 1 corncobs reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted February 28, 2014 Probably two in one or something like that.
Riggo Report post Posted February 28, 2014 Do the audio test and hear for yourself. Hold the CD eject button and >>| button at the same time, then go to DSP and then touch the Walk around audio test button. It'll walk through each speaker and it only does 10. acdii Report post Posted March 3, 2014 It will treat the midrange and tweeter in the front doors as one. They most likely are wired through a crossover with only one pair to the amp. 2 corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this
Riggo Report post Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) If I remember correct it tests the mid in the lower doors and the tweeter in the upper door separately. I'll have to run the audio test tomorrow when I go to work. Today we are "snowed in" for a whopping 4-6" of snow haha. Kind of pathetic how everything shuts down for such a small amount of snow around here. Edited March 3, 2014 by Riggo
Riggo Report post Posted March 4, 2014 Here is a video of the audio test. Sorry about the low quality, it compressed the file when I sent it from my phone through email, and it wouldn't allow me to upload directly from my phone for some reason. Also, I know the screen is really dusty looking. I did a bad job cleaning it off ha.As you can see, it only tests 10 speakers, and not the 12 you'd think it would. http://youtu.be/oGhuU9UvSzo 1 hybridbear reacted to this

I do know that for a fact have rear tweeters because I have replaced all the door speakers with Polk db6501 components and I have 8 OEM speakers in a box somewhere that were removed. My guess for the sound test is to be flexible for the SE models. There are no rear door tweeters in the SE model but coaxial speakers where the Ti mid woofers are, and in the SE model you can also get the same MFT 8 inch screen that the diagnostics can be performed on. One thing odd is that the tweeter tests on my front doors do not produce any sounds as the test sound doesn't seem to get through the crossovers on the Polks.
