For the longest time I have been driving past the Claussen pickle plant in Woodstock, it is surrounded by a tall security fence that is either topped with barbed wire, or razor wire, of which I would not want to get close enough to in order to find out.

 

The thing that makes me go huh? about 100 yards NW of the plant is a national Guard Armory, with no fences at all.

 

 

What are they making besides pickles?

I guess they don't want any terrorist to poison the vat solution.

That was the first thing I looked for on Google maps, appears all the vats are indoors. I think they would be solid blocks of ice by now if they weren't.

You have to protect ammo production. The national guard in that area uses pickle based weapons stored under ground. That's why there are no fences. The close proximity of the ammo supply allows for a less obvious presence.
