Doing Pre-Search

Recommended Posts

It'll be a couple years til I buy. I tend to nuke it when it comes to researching something. The FFH caught my radar. I'm hoping the new Cafe standards will tweak this marvel of a car a bit, such a s a smaller engine and a bit bigger battery capacity.

I always tend to get 30%+ better fuel mileage than what EPA says, but hybrids are a completely different animal (for me anyway). I drive as a hypermiler and have a 65 mile one way commute to work 4 days a week. I drive a 1999 Chevy Metro 3 cylinder/5 speed as a commuter and she's getting a bit long in the tooth. Plus there is no A/C which I need for allergy reasons. She has averaged 57.8mpg over the last 68k+ miles, so I am no hurry. Well, I keep telling myself that anyway!

I will be lurking and maybe asking questions.

Good luck. Many years ago I bought a 3-cyl Chevy Metro in a quest for economic transport. I loved the drivetrain, but the suspension proved the scariest of any vehicle I've ever owned. A quick back and forth deer-avoidance maneuver made me wonder where I'd end up. Needless to say, I didn't keep it long.

On the other end of the scale, the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid we recently acquired is probably the most confident handler, even with studded snow tires, of a long procession of British sports cars and modern front wheel drive sedans.

I hope you find the car that fits you.
