Former Expedition owner Report post Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) A few days ago, I was in an automatic car wash with my 2013 HyTi and my daughter (who was sitting in the passenger seat) said, "Cool!" and pointed to the MFT screen. The rear view camera was showing a view of the car wash on the MFT screen. I double checked my gear shifter, and it was in Neutral, as it should be when the car wash's rollers push the vehicle along the path. You can see in the picture below that the dashboard shows the vehicle in Neutral, but the rear view camera is on and showing the car wash. Why would the HyTi do this? When the car wash was complete, I put the car in drive and the camera view went away. Edited January 26, 2014 by Former Expedition owner
inco Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Might be as simple as the shift lever not being totally in neutral and the camera got activated. Try putting it in neutral and see if it happens again. If it does, it might be a feature, if it doesn't, well I guess you could complain. ;) More than likely the camera was 'on' when you changed gears? Had you moved the lever it might have gone out. Those into alternate life forms might also have a different theory, but it's Sunday and I'll leave it alone. :worship: 1 corncobs reacted to this
hermans Report post Posted January 26, 2014 The are two setting for the RV camera. One is the camera goes off when you put it in drive and the other setting is you put the car in D and get to 5 MPH before the camera goes off. In my FFH I have the delay set two the second option. If I but the car in D after backing up I can start to move forward then stop and put the car in N ( did this the other day to talk with my wife in the driveway) and the camera stays on. I then put it in drive and accelerated and the camera went off. Maybe you put the car in R for a second before putting it in neutral????
acdii Report post Posted January 27, 2014 When you put it in Neutral it bumped the reverse switch briefly and turned the camera on. It will stay on no matter what the delay is set to until you either put it in park or drive. As far as the camera knows, you are in reverse.

hermans Report post Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) It's in the MFT screen under the two little gears section and is covered in the manual. The setting delays the backup screen until you move forward and reach 5 MPH. I guess it's so you can see the car coming up behind you that is about to smack you in arse. kbailey990 Report post Posted February 15, 2014 :) your conclusion is valid about the car coming up to smack you, but I think it's so you can fine tune your position for lining up a trailer hitch!! Also, thanks for sharing about the new air intake. I plan on ordering one.
Former Expedition owner Report post Posted February 16, 2014 I remember now that there was a line of about 5 cars waiting at the car wash. The 1st car in line, for whatever reason, decided not to go through the car wash. The attendant had all the cars back up in order to let the first car out of line. Once I returned the transmission to Drive, I never went over 5 MPH, so the rear view camera stayed on the screen. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted February 16, 2014 We have this setting turned off not because having the camera stay on is undesirable, but because when the camera is on you don't have access to voice commands. Even once the car is in drive there are no voice commands until the camera turns off.

acdii Report post Posted February 17, 2014 It turns off at 5 MPH...that's crawling speed.Keep in mind though, HB drives, his wife pushes. Takes them a while to go past 5 MPH. :happy feet: 2 corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted February 17, 2014 It turns off at 5 MPH...that's crawling speed. When you're backing up to leave and then driving through a parking lot, alley or underground parking garage you aren't going to exceed 5 MPH right away. Our apartment building is home to a lot of families with small children who will run out in front of you when driving through the underground garage. Residents are supposed to keep their speed under 5 MPH down there for that very reason. I'd rather not run over any children so I drive slowly through the garage. 2 acdii and corncobs reacted to this

You should be keeping alert so you don't run over the little (or big) children in your garage. Don't you agree?
