Cross Traffic System Fault

Recommended Posts

2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid and am having similar problems. The cross system traffic fault appears intermittently and is more likely to come on in wet conditions however it has also appeared on dry warm days. I am sitting in a dealership now (using the free internet) and searching for a solution online because they don't appear to have a answer.

The service engineer read the codes from the system computer and has indicated that there were 6 different errors that occurred which may generate the "cross system traffic fault warning" so this suggests that there may be more than one fault to correct.

Good luck with the visit -- mine came on a few days ago, but understandably so since the rain was coming down and all sorts of road spray confusing the adaptive cruise and the BLIS, etc... but when that happens, next time my car starts back up all is fine.

I still get these faults every so often, but they still work, so just taking it as the glitch that it is.

Well, guess this is another one of those, cannot reproduce, customer must be smoking something instances. I have a list of these myself after 45K miles.

CTA fault intermittent, no codes, cannot reproduce, but shows on VHR.

Transmission not in park when opening drivers door if there is a passenger with the second key. At least that is how I know what shows up cause it goes away before I can get in the car, yet there have been times when I open the drivers door and hear the chimes.

Regen brakes get soft, where I press on the brakes, the dash spins, yet the car doesn't slow like it should, have to press more and more until the hydraulic brakes kick in, hence low brake score. Other times the car slows aggressively on regen, just like it should, and again, no problem found.

Then there is then one issue I can reproduce just about every time, the regen brakes disengaging for a brief moment during a turn. Happens regardless of speed and SOC, and always when the brakes are in regen mode. Since no codes, no problem found. I notice it mostly while turning a 90* corner between 25 and 30 MPH, but have it happen under 15 MPH too, like when I turn into my driveway, and since it is gravel, it is really noticeable as the freewheeling when it disengages pushes the front tires through the gravel. Other times if the regen from above is not doing its job and I hit the turn going over 30 MPH then I wind up in the opposing lane during the turn since it lurches through the turn.

The last two items just started happening this past winter, the first one I noticed in December, and thought that it was related to the cold temps, the second part happened end of January, neither of these issues occurred since mile 3 on the car until I got close to the 40K mile mark.

Again, as what the OP is getting, No Problem Found! These cars are too damned complicated now, so you need not a mechanic, but a computer specialist and electrical engineer to troubleshoot them.
