Car taken over by the Devil

My car (FFH) goes to the dealer tomorrow as the drivers mirror glass starts turning in all directions when the unlock button is pressed. The glass never ends up in the same position and I have reset the mirror position about a dozen times. I also have an intermittent problem with the back seat overhead light staying on.

 

I'll report back with what the fix is. Anybody else have or had this problem.

Does your have the touch buttons? When I had BD I could make things go nutz just waving my hand over the overhead console.

The back overhead light is a hard button. The rest are magic wand buttons.

You have a ground problem or a module that is needing funny farm help. So many of these systems are now done through a computer module that basic troubleshooting steps are obsolete. I'm surprised they dont use fiber optics now to wire up the car.

Although the dealer I use has never seen anything like my Devil mirror, Ford is aware of this issue. They said the fix is to replace the entire mirror. Something having to do with the motor and wiring inside the mirror. They ordered a new one and will paint it when it comes in. I hope this doesn't happen with the other car.

How does it affect the rear light though? Two separate issues?

Separate issue. They could not recreate the light problem.

The mirror came, was painted and installed and now works like it was designed to do. The devil was exorcised.

My 13 FFH has just started acting weird .

When I park the car for the day in the morning and come back 8 hrs later, the outside mirrors are looking down at the street, the inside Rear-view mirror is in a different location and the Backup Camera is now viewing in a different position (closer to the bumper) . No one has touched anything and this has happened Twice now.

Anybody else have these unexplained problems.

Sounds like you are being punked! The inside mirror position can only be changed using the appendage at the end of your arm. No amount of electronic gremlins will make that mirror budge. :)

Have you ever assigned the mirror and seat location to one of the buttons near the door handle and your key fob?

I think I remember seeing the same thing when I used the spare key to unlock the car and after it the mirrors where pointing somewhere but not where I had placed them.

Strange to say the least. The center mirror is not electronic, as has been pointed out - you need Armstrong Power for that. And the backup camera - I didn't know it was even adjustable. I thought it was in a fixed position as well. Your side mirror could be a gremlin or do you have door mounted settings for them and the driver's seat?

I'm thinking the seats are in a Lowered Position for Driver 1's key & that makes the mirror look like it's been moved when you First get in (for Driver 1) if it doesn't come to it assigned position which it didn't, yes the mirrors are controlled by the 1 & 2 per Driver 1 & 2's key fob. No mix-up on the key fob, Mine has my name on it.

The Camera as far as I can tell is Fixed BUT an Over the Air software change could effect it. I don't know if the Car has that Function from Ford. The Car is parked in an assigned outside parking space

( it's a Handicap Space plenty of room around the car) , so Yes someone could mess with Both outside mirrors from the outside. But the Camera still baffles me and the Seat Positions changing according to the Assigned Key fob. The Inside Rear-View Mirror I'm going to say might be related to the New unwanted seat positions.

The Camera use to view right where the Rear Bumper ended and out to the street, you could just barely see the red bumper, ( I have the Ruby Red Fusion) Now you can see at least 3 inches of the rear bumper and out to the street, like the camera has changed View some how.

That's the best I can explain what is going on.

 

Just for S****& Giggles what is the View from your Backup Camera, How much of the Rear bumper do you guys & gals see in your on screen display.

He's not being punked. That is exactly how my mirror problem started.

No, it's not possible to do any software updates "through the air", except for Sirius functions.

That was the First thing I checked was the Plus + (Magnifier) in the upper Right hand corner of the Screen while in Reverse, but the Default View is like I said ,Changed from when we First bought the car. I can Almost see the Bottom of the License Tag. I can see the Rubber nub that keeps the Tag from rattling on the Bottom of the Tag.

I don't think the Door Code has been changed, I know I haven't changed it because I don't use it, ever. I'll ask the Wife but I think Not is the answer.
