Va2014HyTi Report post Posted January 3, 2014 From a recent press release ... "Ford previously demonstrated its ability to let owners of its vehicles do retroactive software upgrades to infotainment systems. Now, the company will let owners add a whole new feature set, Sync AppLink, to existing cars.Ford issued a press release today saying that owners of 2010 model year cars will be able to download Sync AppLink and load the app integration system into their cars. As with previous updates, owners should also have the option to let dealers do the software upgrade."Read more: http://www.cnet.com/8301-35289_1-57616498/ford-adding-app-integration-to-3.4-million-cars/#ixzz2pLazw9rH But the real take away line is the following near the end of the article:"Currently, Sync AppLink is not compatible with MyFord Touch, Ford's infotainment system. A Ford spokesperson confirmed to CNET that the upgrade would still not be compatible with MyFord Touch-equipped cars." WTF ?!?!?!??!?
aaronj1159 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Ah you got my hopes up for a second. Not sure why it's taking Ford so long to put this feature on it's most technologically advanced vehicles...

LASooner Report post Posted January 4, 2014 You shouldn't pay more for less functionality. Why is this such a problem? Why are MFT owners treated like second class citizens? 1 murphy reacted to this
JimArch Report post Posted January 4, 2014 Sometimes I feel like if Ford had aligned with Apple, we would all be driving around one day minding our own business and an "over the air" update would reach our cars, a small white Apple would appear on the black MFT screen, and then next would be a box asking us to enter our Apple ID and password. Once at a stop light, and safely supplying the requested info, iTunes Radio would start streaming "what a wonderful world" and there would be an app for "Find my Ford" on the screen. I'm sure they are taking their sweet time with the MFT applink solution because they only want to deliver the best solution to their MFT owners. That's it, right? 1 GrySql reacted to this
