Predictive Logic For Cruise Control

If the map data built into the software in cars included the feet above sea level figures for the road several miles ahead of your vehicle, wouldn't this eliminate the need to predict the change in terrain ahead? This way our cars would know that the SOC could go below normal levels when downslopes will soon be encountered, and when the SOC needs to be kept at a higher level to assist in climbing upcoming hills.

I read this too. Awesome tech! This would basically allow the cruise to do some pulse & glide too.

This is the exact same Idea I had. Another would be memory cruise where you would use it on a daily path and know when a hill is approaching, stops occurring etc and do the the same thing.

This is actually something I thought is already happening in our FFHs. People with very repetitive driving patterns seem to get very good MPG results. This might just be the human element but it's nice to think our cars are that smart. ( and they are very smart)
