Predictive Logic For Cruise Control

If the map data built into the software in cars included the feet above sea level figures for the road several miles ahead of your vehicle, wouldn't this eliminate the need to predict the change in terrain ahead? This way our cars would know that the SOC could go below normal levels when downslopes will soon be encountered, and when the SOC needs to be kept at a higher level to assist in climbing upcoming hills.

This is the exact same Idea I had. Another would be memory cruise where you would use it on a daily path and know when a hill is approaching, stops occurring etc and do the the same thing.
